So I am going to hand sew the leg pieces and the flap. Is there a guideline to where it needs to cover. I'm getting 2 yards so invade I mess up but going to attempt a paper pattern first. Any advise is welcomed.

If you have an old pair of jeans or longer shorts you can draw the thigh patches on it and then cut it out. This way you get a pattern that fits you.

Ok last question. when you do the suede on the thighs is visible stitching ok or does it need to be hidden. I've seen a lot of professional made suits where they put it in the inseam. Just curious if I can sew it on like a patch or if I need to sew it in all the seams.

0c746db8aba1027fd98d5df7b0c649ce.jpg so I cut this pattern out for the thighs and my but flap. Looks good imo after looking at pictures for hours and drawing Lines for a while.

Visible stitching around the outside of the patch is perfectly acceptable. It was present on the screen used scouts and there is no way to avoid that part.

Up the inseam... Well, that's not so critical. It just makes patterning from the base material a little bit easier.

The whole patch is sewn on in one go, around the outside. The seams that you see (along the inseams) are usually just where the individual bits of the patch have been sewn together prior to applying it to the suit.
