Dragon_a Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I am beginning to get my armour ready to apply for Lancer status, starting off with the sole cuts for my boots. Before I get busy with the knife I'd be grateful for some opinions. Quote
BikerScout007 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 You don't really need any cuts in the front of the boot. The Sierras didn't have them 1 Quote

The Sierras didn't have them Thanks, however you've made me go back looking for pics to see where the cuts stop and I found this: I'm not sure how well you can see in the pic, but it is taken from the pic that we all use as a main reference (the one with the holster on the left boot). Looking now, it looks to me like there are indents cut into the toe, similar to the pattern on the heel? Quote
BikerScout007 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Right, but the cuts dont go all the way around to the front, which was my point. But here, no need to squint, turn your head, magnify and what not, here's some fresh Sierras Now have people cut teeth all the way around, including across the front? Sure and we have never dinged anyone for it. But if you want to save yourself a little time and go for more accuracy, you can leave the fronts as is. Quote
Dragon_a Posted June 6, 2017 Author Posted June 6, 2017 Ah, that's a great shot, thank you. I wasn't doubting your advice as to whether the cuts are needed at the front. Have any of you tried to recreate the pattern on the toe? If so, any advice as to the best way to go about it? Quote

I think the best practice is to follow the tread of your boot and not worry so much about matching perfectly. We don't have a requirement for absolute fidelity, only that you've carved out the teeth in a reasonable facsimile. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Dragon_a Posted June 6, 2017 Author Posted June 6, 2017 Thanks Mickey. Really appreciate your help. 1 Quote
Dart Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Another thing to mention is that you don't have to cut really deep. Save yourself some agony and keep it between 1/16" and 1/8" max. Some folks go really deep, but it's just not necessary. 1 Quote
