First pair of boots.

Pretty happy so far. I'll let these sit a day to hold the memory then commit to glue. How's it looking from any pros ?

I have to agree with StoutScout. I used the same base boot but swapped out the laces for the flat tennis shoe ones. It keeps the boot tight on your foot but sits flat when stretching the vinyl. I think you got a nice stretch going and other than the laces it's looking great. Here's a link to my boot thread if you would like to take a look.

I will swap out the laces that's no problem. When you drilled out the speed laces do you even lace it at all though the holes left behind ?

No need to do that.

Looks much better. The top two or so rows or laces should be covered with your calf piece and dogbone so you are looking good. As I mentioned before you got a really nice smooth stretch going there.

Thank you 😊 turning the heat in the truck on high and cranking it did the trick for getting the stretch. Now I just have to stare at pictures for a while so I can figure out the cutting of the soles with my dremel.

You should experiment with a junk pair of boots that you don't care about messing with first. I ended up using an exacto blade and chisel blade for best results, but yeah, definitely try your technique out on something else first.

That's the best way to deal with the edges. Your calf piece is going to cover the uppermost part of the toe piece so that part won't be seen. That being said it's always good to address these little issues before you move on in your build and the attention to detail will give you a better result. Looking forward to seeing more keep up the great work!

Thanks brother. I have a garrison mate that is awesome with a sewing machine. Waiting on him having some spare time.

I'm thinking this is no big deal due to this will be covered when I do the calf piece and the bow on the front. What say you ? Is it going to be hidden and no big deal or do I need to start over.

It may be hidden but looks close to the edge to me. I'd suggest using a paper cutout (or vinyl if you've done it) and position it to see how it lines up

Now just wait for the armor to get here so I can make sure the height is good, just below knee armor.
