Speedy-T
Forgive me if this question has been beat to death. Just looking to see what others use to keep their face plate up. I've tightened up the nuts pretty good but after flipping it open a few times the faceplate won't stay up on it's own, even with locknuts. I saw someone mention magnets once but don't see where they can be attached in a way to keep the faceplate open ( I do use them to keep it closed tight). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Bubonos
I'm not sure what bucket you have, but mine is a SC. I tightened mine down till I heard light cracking then backed off a hair. After a while, I need to tighten it again. I also have lock washers which help also. Now a fellow scout in my garrison has the exact same bucket, and the same issue you're having and I gave the same advice to her husband and he said he did all but tighten as tight as I suggest. If you find it's too tight, back off the nut a hair more. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J120A using Tapatalk
Retrofire
How about some sort of ratcheting setup like those used in motorcycle helmets? Those have full faces like our buckets and they stay up. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Yes, the original helmets had a ratchet system which would keep the facemasks up. The LW and RS lids have it as well but it pretty much depends on the skills of the assembler how good the ratchet system actually works.
rawktrooper
i actually trimmed my visor with steps built in, in a way that it has 2 up positions and stays up when i lift it. You can't tell its been cut this way by looking at it all together so its somewhat hidden but hits in all the right spots on the dome. Its a new MonCal (Faraway Creations) bucket so i am not sure if the others have a way to do this, but it works very well, and with wing nuts on the bolt i can tighten it or loosen it as needed.
