Bootlegger137
Humble beginnings. Ultimate goal is Lancer. Most everything else is on order from one source or another. Thanks to several members for their guidance (Griffin-X, BikerScout007, and those I've ordered or will order from).
Retrofire
...and what a great beginning it is! You're off to a great start with all the pieces you've collected so far. Look forward to seeing this progress to approval.
Bootlegger137
The "build" continues.
Bootlegger137
Armor kit arrived from SC on Monday, and finally had some time today before work to start on it. First off, new TD build: Obviously needs painting. Also needs new end caps. The SC ones are too wide for this. Any ideas on where to pick some up? Flight suit arrived from TB Stompers a couple of weeks ago, and finally getting around to posting it:
Bootlegger137
Started playing around a little with the SC chest and back armor, and realized that there are no return edges on them. Will this present any major issues?
Chopper
Tread carefully. Pandatrooper makes creating a return edge look a lot easier than it actually is.
Chopper
Also if you don't mind me asking, where did you find straight hose tubing? Everywhere I look it's curved and I've had a helluva time trying to straighten it out.
Bootlegger137
Home Depot. It wasn't the same brand as in Shaun's post, but all I could find. It's labeled 1.375" OD, but it measured closer to 1.25". Might go back and see if they have 1.5" and see if that works a little better. Still have the issue of the SC end caps being too big, though. Chopper
Yeah, I actually just came back from Home Depot and whaddayaknow, they have straight cut sections of hose tubing. I guess that'll teach me for going to Lowes first. Thanks man.
Bootlegger137
Tread carefully. Pandatrooper makes creating a return edge look a lot easier than it actually is. I don't think there's enough width to the shoulder straps to make return edges...at least without making them look like bra straps.
Bootlegger137
Elastic strapping done for the most part. Still need to do the shoulders and tank.
Bootlegger137
Not a ton of progress, but finished my TD:
Chopper
Did you end up getting new end caps, or are those the standard SC ones?
Bootlegger137
Did you end up getting new end caps, or are those the standard SC ones? Those are the SC ones. I heated them up with a heat gun, and used a ball to create the concave part. Used a slightly larger diameter hose, too.
