TB-1599
Just updating this thread. I starting marking out and cutting the pieces.. I just wanted to make sure these are looking ok. The flap has two pieces. When I am done the box should be 5X6X2.5
PropReplicator2
Once you cut the pattern out in fabric it all makes sense some how. Fold one all the lines and then stick the tabs together. Match them up like origami. Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk
TB-1599
That's one of my problems trying to figure out how to print it at the correct size....

BikerScout007
Reduce them in size. 7 inches is too big. I would do 6.
TB-1599
Reduce them in size. 7 inches is too big. I would do 6. I may be WAY over thinking this... I have these pouches right now... I know these are ok to use. But I want to get them Lancer ready and I know the front stitching is no bueno. What I may do is just take one apart and use it as a pattern.... BikerScout007
I think the pouches are a bit rectangular. So maybe 6 x 5.5 x 2. All I know is the vast majority if Scouts out there have pouches that are way too big and it's funny how many err on the side of being too big rather than too small. I think a lot of comes from wearing the armor wrong. The belt should be on your waist (so across your belly button) and the chest armor should be worn up high. Pouches should pretty much fit in that gap. Note the cummerbund is not much bigger than the pouches.
Chef
Essentially the pouch is the same height as the gap between your chest plate and your belt. So if you have your armour, place your chest plate on, and your belt around your waist (in line with your navel) and then measure the gap between the two. This is how high your pouches need to be, so scale accordingly. It will vary depending on how big you are. I'm 6'1" and a 7"x6" is fine for me. Anyone who is a bit shorter, say in the region of 5'7" then they will be needing ones around 6"x5". As for how do you sew them? Have them inside out and sew the seams. When they're done, turn them back the right way. Internal stitching done!
BikerScout007
Well I am a scant 6'0, my pouches are 6 inches tall..... and I still think they look too big. That's me in the middle. The fellows to my left and right have the 7 inch boxes and they look oversized. I'm going to try 5.5 inch pouches next and see if they look more accurate. I'm also going to grab a measurement off Gino's scout when I see it at Celebration. The pouches used in the film just seem to take up much less real estate on the cummerbund than the ones we make. When lined up against the outer edge of the chest armor, they don't even touch the outer ribs of the cummerbund. So either our pouches are too wide, armor is too narrow, or bund ribs are too wide.

M.J
Looking at the armour on the page above, there chest piece sits higher. The pouches are very wide apart. I agree there seems to be more real estate on theirs. I feel if we place our pouches that far back and they are going to sit under our arms! The member second from the left has his pouches where they are supposed to sit. BTW in the photo from the film do you notice how their pouches sit? like they sag a little?...ours with foam look too formed? Just wondering
TB-1599
I was thinking about this on the way into work... I have my pouches measure out exactly 5X6X2.5. If I sew on the lines inside out. Am I going to lose some surface space? So they are actually smaller than I measured? In reality should I be marking them at 5.5X6.5X3.0 giving me an extra quarter inch on each side so it takes into consideration what the stitch is going to use? Am I making sense?

Totally making sense and that's probably a good idea. Although I would be interested to see how pouches with your original measurements came out

Just wondering The chest piece thing is another issue but one that most of us can't really rectify other than to cut the shoulder straps shorter. Many of the armor makers make the chest pieces too big. I have SC armor and it is definitely guilty of this. The pouches of the movie scouts seem to start at the outer edge of the armor. We tend to line ours up with the bund ribs. But with the film scouts, the pouches don't even touch the outer ribs because of where they sit. And their smaller size. TB-1599
I am 99% done with my pouches. Please take a look and tell me what you think. I know the flap on the rt pouch needs to be re ironed to get the seam hidden. Now I just have to figure out how I am going to attach them to my bund. Speaking of now that my pouches are done I can now do the lines on my bund. Comments and constructive crit
BikerScout007
Pouches look good. There is supposed to be a tab that is sewn to the back of the pouch that attaches to the bund. Either by sewing it to the bund or use velcro Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
BikerScout007
You can see the tab on that picture of the Scout I posted above. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
TB-1599
Ohh I know thats why I said 99% done I was just excited and wanted to see how they looked. Are the tabs double layered? would you suggest Velcroed to the bun or sewen?
M.J
Robert you did a really good job, only issue I would keep an eye out on the right one, the top of the flap looks a little small.. likes its not covering the top part. If you get my drift.

Are the tabs double layered? would you suggest Velcroed to the bun or sewen? They seem to be single layered based off the photos, but we don't know what the exact material was used to make them They are sewn on in the film, but for Lancer we just ask that they have "the appearance" of being attached to the bund. Which means you can velcro them to the bund, or velcro them to the bund AND the chest armor if that helps.

If you get my drift. I noticed that also. I have to take the boxes out and re iron them a little. I will prob hit them with a little starch. I may have to put a small piece of Velcro at the top of the box and under the top flap. (Fabri tac here I come)
