Havrix
I have a problem in constructing/attaching my pouches to ... whatever. Where the heck do you guys attach your pouches to? I also have a problem with the size of the pouches. The CRL-picture shows a nearly "square" pouch, the templates a slightly rectangular one. The visible part of the cummerbund is about 17 cm (6,6 inches). Unfortunately if I use 15 cm (5,9) wide pouches they stick out too far on the sides of the cummerbund or to close together in the middle what they are not allowed to (see pre-clearance pics of nearly EVERY scout). The perfect pouches for me seem to have the sizing 12 cm x 17 cm. Are they TOO rectangular? Movie scouts seem to have very long and narrow pouches too. I have now 4 test-pouches made of cotton and paper around and none of them fits perfectly. Attached some pictures.... My WIP (Ignore the collar, the missing ribs on the cummerbund and the unfinished cod piece etc.) Movie screenshot with rectangular pouches. Very WIDE ribs on the cummerbund Maybe you can help me with my problems in sizing and attaching the pouches. Greetings from Germany
Dauitsch
Hi Steve, I have seen your posting in the GG forum as well and now I think I got you point, Its actually not that tricky... For the pipes on the bund (and so the pipes on the vest´s arms) 1 inch seems to be a prefect width! Talking about the shape of the pouches, I would not go with a rectangular shape since they are only looking like being so on the screenshot because of them being bunched and stressed on the set. You should refer as well refer to our beloved mannequin from the costume book, the BR references and the MoM model who all have the square ones clearly visible... However, first of all I think you are wearing your belt a bit to low, it should rather sit above the hip-line rather than directly on it, this way you already come closer to a square space for the pouches but bear in mind that the bund shall not be sitting under the belt, it should rather be placed directly above it. In case you have Facebook, I suggest to look up the "Wolfpack Advanced Recon Team" group, its way more efficient to link there not just because we are living quite close together and I might be able to assist you with the pouches, anyway, I bet the pair I have a home spare is already perfectly fitting your needs
Bubonos
Mine are Velcro on the cummerbund. My costume is held together by industrial Velcro Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J120A using Tapatalk
BikerScout007
How rectangular they are depends very much on what is stuffing them. The film scout above with the very rectangular pouches just seems to have a lot of stuffing stretching it out. I don't think the pouches are square. They definitely seem taller than they are wider, but it's not that much.
Havrix
So this is a test just for the measurements. Left = me and my unfinished codpiece and a testing pouch made of paper (14cm height / 12 cm width) Right = picture of the scout above Got any ideas?
BikerScout007
Pouch size looks good, although it's on the wrong side You may want to make the angles sharper on the bottom portion of your codpiece. And this picture is a great example of how much the armor makers need to redo their chest pieces and make them smaller. That would solve most of our problems with soft goods placement. gmrhodes13
Great work, looking good. I also attached mine with Velcro which gave the ability to make adjustments if required
BikerScout007
You heard it, Chef! My problems are YOUR fault It's not any one particular armor maker, most sets have this same issue. The only one I've seen that comes close is Strider's

Honestly, I think you'd do better by making the pouches a bit thinner. I know the standard we've all known is roughly 7 x 6 x 2.25 inches, but I think it's likely that the pouches were closer to 6 x 5.5 x 1.75 inches. I think you're on the right track, though. Keep it up!

Keep it up! I agree. 7 is too big. It's either 6 or 5.
Stroker
It's not any one particular armor maker, most sets have this same issue. The only one I've seen that comes close is Strider's This! I recently trimmed my MC chest and back straps down. It gave the chest piece a nice rise at the bottom along with letting everything set in place better.
Havrix
May it be that there are stiches on the movie scout pouch flap despite that the CRL says that they are not allowed?
BikerScout007
May it be that there are stiches on the movie scout pouch flap despite that the CRL says that they are not allowed? Funny enough we are addressing the pouches right now We took away the requirement for no stitching on the velcro attachment piece, but we do want Lancer applicants to keep the stitching very light. It should not be obvious from a distance, as in the film. The CRL is referring only to the edge of the pouches themselves: "There is no visible external edge stitching on the cod or pouch flaps."
Havrix
Next step .... Smaller pouches and the codpiece! Suggestions? Opinions?
BikerScout007
Looks really good. I would close up that gap in your cod crescent though. It looks slightly too wide. Is that a half inch? I think a quarter inch would be better. Pouches look great. Right in the gap!
mattcamaro
I velcroed mine to my chest armor. Keeps mine from pulling my bund down. Nice size on your pockets, I had to scale my daughters pockets down to her when we first applied hers looked huge until I did. Are the pic of your pockets a mock up or your actual pockets? Will you applying for Lancer in the future? Only reason I ask your drop box straps look off white and your boxes are bright white. Might be the lighting. Just curious.
