Soft armor parts

Well, my idea about making my scout trooper build is to start with de soft parts and then get the rest of the aromor. So I have some questions about it. I'm planning to do as much as possible myself, so my doubt are mainly about wich materials i should use.

 

The first one is which kind of undersuit do you recomend me to make the flisht suit, because I see in the CRL there are many options and I prefer to ask to the experiencied ones whinch one do you prefear.

 

The sleeves of the vest are cotton like the rest of the vest?

 

Ad finally, what should the pouches be made of? And also important, which colour is better, white or off-white?

Welcome to bs.n, Sergi! Making your own soft goods if you're able is a great option and you can save a few bucks.

 

To answer a couple of your questions, many of us use a basic black work coverall (RedKap, Dickies, etc) and modify it appropriately. That includes removing external pockets, patches and such, and adding the suede thigh patches, butt flap, thigh bands, and flap collar closure, as well as tailoring for a slightly more form fitting shape than you'd normally get with a coverall.

 

The vest sleeves (at least on mine) are indeed cotton like the rest of the vest. I'm guessing you ask this because of the sheen the sleeves have. This effect is achieved when the batting is put into the sleeves and the vertical quilted lines are sewn in and tighten the black material over the batting.

 

"Duck Cloth" is a common material for the cummerbund and pouches. As for the color, that's completely up to you but remember if you do off-white pouches you also need off-white belt thigh box straps and webbing for the chest/back underarm connection.

Ok, thanks you both. Great the tutorial about the best and I'm sure that will make things a lot easier.

 

About the pouches, I'm planning to paint my armor with battle damage, so I was asking to know how people usually do and what colour match better with this armor effect.

There are some good threads in the armor forum on weathering your scout so give those a look through. Just always remember with weathering a scout less is more!

Hello all! I was just wondering what material I should use either white or off-white for the soft armor parts. Preferably Duck Cloth as a good material to start off with for the cumberbund and the pouches would be good for me. Thx

Duck cloth is the preferred material. There are some great threads on the bund and pouches in the armory that I can recommend to you. The one that most comes to mind is by Strider. I personally prefer the white pouches but off white is just fine. Just keep in mind that you will want your drop box and chest/back armor straps to match in the same off white color.
