PeaceForEndor
http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9781&view=findpost&p=81497 any alternative?
BikerScout007
Easiest way is one rivet on the top and one on the bottom In the films, the tank was held on to the back armor by straps, which is why you see them sliding all over the place! We aren't 100% sure how it was rigged up though, so you can be creative if you go this route. Still -- you need the rivets even if they are just decorative.

BikerScout007
Of the rivets on top and bottom? The Pandatrooper thread that was posted above will have it.
Stroker
The movie way is a bit better. You can remove your tank easily if need be.
stasz
Velcro, glue, rivets, any combination of the above... Was it Strider who was going to try the strapping method? Someone was just talking about that...
Stroker
I think it was Shaun.
Strider
Yep, Shaun did it that way, looks really good. Since we don't really know how it was fixed I'll probably do both versions; use a rivet to attach it and add the strap to make it look like on the screen. Also more sturdy for trooping I would think. Does someone can show me the pictures how that strapping looks like I can´t find any. Very interested thx
ShaunPug
Does someone can show me the pictures how that strapping looks like I can´t find any. Very interested thx I'll post a few pics of the way I did it in a few.
ShaunPug
Since I took these pictures I actually changed the size of the top strap from 1/2" to something a bit thinner...as per striders advice. The pictures went in all wonky. I apologize for that. I like attaching the tank this way because it satisfies my screen accurate OCD, but it's also surprisingly secure! I tried running and jumping up and down and there was only minimal movement. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
K@nne
Thx for the pictures. I don´t know what to think about that way of attaching the tank.
Strider
Hey Shaun, I know we spoke about it but I thought your strap was wider, 1/2 sounds about right. I assume they only used standard measure straps and 1/4 would def be too small. I did a quick comparison with a 12mm (~1/2 inch) strap:
Strider
I think I have figured out the assembly method; they riveted the lower end of strap to the bottom of the jet pack and pulled it behind the armor all the way up and over the top where it goes below the tank top greeblie and is riveted together. You would have to pull it pretty tight, then rivet the top and then let it snap back so to speak. Does that make any sense?

I did a quick comparison with a 12mm (~1/2 inch) strap: I just checked and my strap that I thought was 1/2" was actually a bit bigger. So my strap now is indeed 1/2" inch. Whew! Was nervous I'd have to re-do it again.
ShaunPug
I still haven't completely figured out the assembly method. At first I thought they riveted the top together with the top tank greeblie while the lower end of the strap goes round behind the back of the armor and is riveted or screwed to the lower end of the tank (see MoM pics). But if they did it that way, how did they pull it tight? I was trying to figure this out as well and that's why I did mine the way I did...I think they just made it permanent. One long 1/2" strap riveted under the tank topper, down the back and then riveted in-between the bottom of the tank and the back armor. mustangman3000
I used Velcro and elastic strapping to attach mine. After a year and more than a dozen troops it's just as strong as the day I did it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Aliaz
That looks interesting, I might go with velcro on my tank.
Shada
I copied Mustangman and would recommend it - holds fast, looks good, and can be removed if you want to pack it down smaller for transport (I store mine attached in a box for trooping but have done a test fit that shows it can all fit in a suitcase if I need to fly with it) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
