BeastlyKirby Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Hey guys trying to set my helmet up so a few questions, cushion/foam vs modifying a hard hat insert, also how do you set up a hard hat insert to fit, pictures? Also elastic chin strap vs a nylon strap with a clip. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Stroker Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Hey, I'm on mobile right now and can't view the picture. However someone will be along to help you out. I'll have a look as soon as I'm on laptop.
Smiling Fox Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I use the MICH helmet pads. They are removable and can be set up in any configuration to fit. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay.
Bobik96 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I cut a piece of foam and hot glue to the top. 1
BeastlyKirby Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 So with the foam doesn't it get quite a bit more hot and in breathable than with the hard hat insert? Also what are you guys using as a chin strap. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Retrofire Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I went with a hard hat liner. Keeps me pretty cool. I'm not using a chin strap on my setup but they are available. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
BeastlyKirby Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Retro how did you manage to mount it to the inside? Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Retrofire Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 There should be four places where the suspension attaches to the helmet. You'll need to cut the hard hat around those slots. Once you cut them out slide them back on the suspension and that will give you four areas that attach to the inside of your helmet. You can use E6000 or a hot glue gun to attach them. Trooperbay has liners you can buy with the helmet tabs but I think you can do it cheaper just getting a hard hat from Home Depot and cutting it yourself. Hope that makes sense:)
Shada Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I did something similar to Retrofire but used Velcro to attach the remnants of the hard hat to the inside of my bucket - gave me flexibility to reposition if needed. There are photos on my (Shada's) build thread but I can't easily link to it now as I'm on my phone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
