shdwtrpr13
First: I noticed theres no helmet section will the Command staff be adding on? I'll be ordering my armor and helmet soon. So heres my thoughts questions and Ideas. Back Vents: -I cant find if there's anything against Opening them to and putting a mesh backing to add Venting. Is it allowed? -I figured that it would be a great place to put the fans if it was allowed. Padding: -I've seeing several types of padding used in these helmets most popular seems to be the Motorcycle helmet liners. Recommendations? Electronics: Sound/voice -I've seen several ways of doing this in the last few months. One way was with that new Mini speaker in the Snout Vent. I'd love to do that but the Helmet of choice I want to go with would make it something I'd have to heavily mod so I can use it. I personally am thinking of using the Bluetooth mic to aker system, Old School/New School TK tech. it would be something I'd tie into a vent system for the back plate. Ok this is I guess where you guys chime in with your 2cents and the Command staff to let me know where I can and can't mod for approval. I look forward to the information I get. Work
At this time there is not really need for a helmet specific section. Back Vents: For level 1 yes if its backed with black mesh so that you could not tell the difference. For level 2 no. I have yet to see any screen used helmet have open vents so that's not going to be allowed. Personally I'd advise against it. I just don't see those little vents making that big of a difference once you've covered the hole with mesh anyway, and you're limiting yourself from potentially going after level two. Padding: This just came up the other day. Check out this thread: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17042 Electronics: This one's up to you pretty much. There are vents in the backpack so I don't see a problem with mounting it back there. Just can't be visible.
shdwtrpr13
The reason I am potential considering Meshing the back vents is that I'd put Fans on the mesh to suck in air and push it into the helmet. a technique I know a few scouts have used with their buckets
TheDon
I have yet to put fans in any of my buckets and with the size of the ST bucket there is room but I haven't a need for them even in the FL humidity.

This is true. I also don't need them in the ST because the bottom of the helmet allows so much air in. Scout helmets are much smaller on the inside. shdwtrpr13
hmm I'll consider this then and keep on with the original build of having the fans in the back plate of the armor with optioning the fans in the bucket.
JG-7734
I've been considering doing the same with the helmet vents (cutting out, screening and placing the fans there. However I have more recently also been considering a more "cannon" approach and making vent cutouts behind the blast shield. According to the R1 visual guide that's where the "cooling fans were placed. The screen helmets appear to have a secondary "dust shield" for these vents behind the blast shield. Doing it this way would not alter the outer appearance and would technically be "canon" correct.

I think this is an interesting Idea and I will be getting my BSP V.2 soon so would like all the information I can before hacking on any helmet or armor.
