So, I started following your thread and started working on my Altmann TD. Looking at the original compared to the new tube I need find a lighter gray. I used a flat mat finish but it is too dark. I should be able to paint over this. 7e2a23139a58445f38e9d9c99e383abd.jpg67e9d146d919a695fbe5fa6d98701036.jpga05cb42222772f257a2ca0c76d6fe64f.jpg3739dc8887a2acbc8e21759a7f63e412.jpgce22ed68b2d3692c2ecd96afa601e0be.jpg

Ya it's definitely a bit too dark. The Vallejo light Gray is perfect if you can get a hold of it.

Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate length of the cable tube? 11 inches? More? Less?

I think for the right look it depends on your own physical build. You want it to stretch across so that the end caps are about where your belt comes around to the back of your waist if that makes sense.

Thanks Shaun.

The cord still needs to be painted and the end caps are stuck on with tape -- that said, any feedback on my wrap job?

I'm confused...where's the weathering?! ;)

Haha don't worry. I am definitely rattle-can weathering my kit. Just wanted to lock down the correct grey color for the td cable first.

Howdy guys, I'm in Australia and unfortunately Home Depot doesn't ship here, would this cord be an acceptable substitute:

Thanks for all the help with this!

It looks as if that could work. It's hard to tell from the picture but I think it could!

A word to the wise for those of you that are tackling this awesome mod. Make sure that you have good solid connections from the TD to your belt as this mod is much heavier than a standard "tube" TD. I would say that belt clips are a must with this. I'm using rare earth magnets and belt clips to keep mine in place. I mention this as I've had to repair it twice now and hopefully this go I've solved all the problems. Oh yeah I learned that you shouldn't jump on trampolines with it on either😀

I recently came across this at a Lowe's hardware store in California. I have NOT used it but wanted to share it as a possible option, which might not even require any painting!

Hmmm....what gauge is that? The problem I see is that it seems too thick a gauge, and it's also missing the correct shape of a split cable.

According to the label 1/4" X 50'! Sorry that's all I know.
