Dmorja Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Super helpful thread, thank you guys. This is why I love this forum. 1
Dmorja Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 So, I started following your thread and started working on my Altmann TD. Looking at the original compared to the new tube I need find a lighter gray. I used a flat mat finish but it is too dark. I should be able to paint over this. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
ShaunPug Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Ya it's definitely a bit too dark. The Vallejo light Gray is perfect if you can get a hold of it. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk 2
Dmorja Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 This color turned out much better Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 1

Chopper Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate length of the cable tube? 11 inches? More? Less?
ShaunPug Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate length of the cable tube? 11 inches? More? Less? I think for the right look it depends on your own physical build. You want it to stretch across so that the end caps are about where your belt comes around to the back of your waist if that makes sense. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Chopper Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Thanks Shaun. The cord still needs to be painted and the end caps are stuck on with tape -- that said, any feedback on my wrap job?
ShaunPug Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 Thanks Shaun. The cord still needs to be painted and the end caps are stuck on with tape -- that said, any feedback on my wrap job? Sweet! Can I see a close-up of the cable? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
ShaunPug Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 Here you go: Perfect. Looks beautiful. Now get to painting! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

ShaunPug Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 Here's my painted version: Compared to the blu-ray I'm confused...where's the weathering?!
Chopper Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I'm confused...where's the weathering?! Haha don't worry. I am definitely rattle-can weathering my kit. Just wanted to lock down the correct grey color for the td cable first. 1
Gruntsky Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Howdy guys, I'm in Australia and unfortunately Home Depot doesn't ship here, would this cord be an acceptable substitute: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006G69YCC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Thanks for all the help with this!

It looks as if that could work. It's hard to tell from the picture but I think it could! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk 1
Gruntsky Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Thanks mate. It had the same cord type as the one posted earlier, but I'm not sure about those odd American cables! 1
ShaunPug Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 Just (FINALLY) updated the thread and recovered the photos. Let me know if anyone has questions!
Retrofire Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 A word to the wise for those of you that are tackling this awesome mod. Make sure that you have good solid connections from the TD to your belt as this mod is much heavier than a standard "tube" TD. I would say that belt clips are a must with this. I'm using rare earth magnets and belt clips to keep mine in place. I mention this as I've had to repair it twice now and hopefully this go I've solved all the problems. Oh yeah I learned that you shouldn't jump on trampolines with it on either😀 1 1
haribon72 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Bump to the top for new scouts! Happy New Year everyone!
khazara Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I recently came across this at a Lowe's hardware store in California. I have NOT used it but wanted to share it as a possible option, which might not even require any painting!

I have NOT used it but wanted to share it as a possible option, which might not even require any painting! Hmmm....what gauge is that? The problem I see is that it seems too thick a gauge, and it's also missing the correct shape of a split cable. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
