My Scout WIP

Hello Scouts,

I am nearing completion on my Scout armor and wanted to get feedback on finishing touches or things that need to be changed before submitting for approval.

I know some details on the back, chest, helmet, and Thermal detonators need to be added but I'm more looking for things that wouldn't pass approval.

Also the pouches are not yet attached as I was unsure if they attached to the cummerbund or the armor itself. I also might be wearing the vest backwards in these, I'm not sure as I took them a couple days ago.

Any and all constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.

This is a great first cut at it. Good job! Here are a few of the items you might want to address.

Looks like you've already looked at these but I just wanted to share what I see:

Snout greeblie on helmet

Rectangle and dot greeblie on the TD

Chest rectangle needs to be painted grey

Helmet needs the grey bolts between the visor and main bucket

Tank topper needs red stripe and white dot on top

Tank needs striping

Bring your thigh boxes up to about an 1" - 1.5" from your belt and even them out. They also became twisted when you were suiting up. Those can be tricky devils when you're putting on the belt so it's a good check to remember.

Attaching the pouches to the armor or bund is really what works best for you. I actually can do both as I have Velcro on my bund and my chest armor. The Lancer requirement is for it to be on your bund but I find they move better with me attached to my chest armor. It might be a good idea to fill out your pouches with some foam to give them a bit of form. I use a soft packing foam in mine and it keeps the shape relatively well.

Bring your bicep armor over more so it's square with your shoulder bells. The forearm armor goes over the top of your hand overlapping the gauntlet by about an inch.

Bring your bund up above the belt none of it should be showing underneath. You want to have as much of the bund under your chest armor as it will give you freedom to move without the bund slipping down.

The knees look a bit close to the boots maybe bring those up a touch and pull your suit down a tad so it doesn't bunch above the knee.

I think its a great job and sounds like you already have most of it in hand. I think you just need a little tightening up which is all fitment type stuff. Once you get that all addressed I think you'll make your GML a happy person. Look forward to seeing you a full Pathfinder!

Thanks for the feedback, I am aware of the details that need adding, just haven't gotten that far yet.

I will try it on again next time I get time to work on it to adjust the fit so things are more in line with what you suggested,

I do have a question on the knees though. How do you guys keep them in place? Mine are held down by a simple elastic band at the moment but they do tend to move around a bit apparently. Would Velcro on the knee itself be a good idea or is there a better way?

Yes velcro will get the job done!

This looks great. I'm an inexperienced, first timer looking to get his own armor. I was wondering if you could give me a few tips or direct me on how you got yours. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I got the hard armor pieces through Studio Creations, and the helmet through Kropserkel although if I could go back and do it again I would have just gotten both from SC as from what I have seen its a better mold. The other pieces were mostly sourced through people on this site. check the trade forum for people who make regular runs of extras like the gun, boots, etc...
