Hello!

I have been planning to build a scout trooper/bounty hunter kit for an upcoming con this summer, but I don't have any experience in star wars costuming. I have a few questions and I hope this is a good place to ask them...

First off, I am trying to stay on a lower end budget. I'm not looking to spend too much on a bucket, and most of the stuff I'm finding online looks like it will run me around $200. Are there decent helmets lower than that out there?

Secondly, I have a pretty big head, about 64 cm around.

And lastly, in order to save on price, I'm looking for the most bare-bones helmet around, to the point that the helmet hasn't even been cut out (if it's vacuum formed) or painted. Are there private vendors willing to sell at lower prices for the raw helmet?

Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

If your goal is NOT to join the 501st, there are plenty of options, I'm told, out there. Honestly, as I've never considered a helmet that wasn't 501st-worthy, I don't have any links to give you. I guess you can search the helmet sectionfor examples people threw out hoping they could get approved with.

Hi there & welcome to the fourms once you have 5 posts you can get access to the trade froums where you can find a lot more info on what your looking at doing

if you got a big mullet ( big head ) a SC bucket will be too small , now spike makes buckets ( helmets) for people with a big head ( like me ) so he would be the best person too talk too

I have both a Altmanns and LW and I must say you will be pleased with the Altmanns

LW is an awesome kit to build, could be difficult if you have never built a kit previously but it's up there with the best available.

If you are not joining the 501st, you could probably find something on eBay that fits your price range

I have a friend who makes decent 3-D printed scout helmets. Not for 501st application but it looks good enough as it is obviously a scout helmet.
