Scout Pouches can attach to chest armor?

I got my cummerbund and flak vest from my vendor a couple weeks ago, and he told me that I can attach the pouches to the armor. Initially I tried velcro, but there wasn't enough grip for them to be weight bearing. I have an Aker 10 amp, and an Icomm box. I thought about riveting them to the armor, so I don't have to sew suspenders onto the cummerbund and sew the pouches onto it, since that seems like extra work and I've done that before to my old cummerbund/cod piece. Any ideas on if this is a good idea or not?

NO! You dont want to rivit them to the armor. That will ruin your chances of being approved in any classification. Perhaps you need more velcro. I make the soft parts & i make my pouches with velcro to attatch to the underside of the chest armor. I use 2"x7" belive me that is more than enough to hold a pouch with an Aker Amp.

They aren't riveted yet, I promise! I'm glad I asked! There is loop velcro already attached to the pouches, maybe I just need to sew a bigger piece of loop velcro to the pouch and use a bigger piece of hook adhesive velcro on the underside! Can someone send me a picture of what this would look like so I can have a visual?

I think the best idea is to attach them to the cummerbund as they were done in the film. But Velcro holds them to the chest armor pretty well.

That is what my original cummerbund was set up like, however with the added weight of the amp and the icomm box, it caused my cummerbund to sag so there was a gap between the armor and the cummerbund. So I had to safety pin suspender straps to my cummerbund. It just didn't look as form fit.

Yeah that's definitely an issue for a lot of us. Adding some velcro to the back of the bund to affix it to the undersuit can help with that!

Mine are sewn onto the bund and have been since '03... For suspension, I used some super thin elastic and attatched two pieces to the bund (one for each shoulder). Its lasted me forever, remains comfortable, and looks fine.
