Uncertain - Helmet or Armor First?

Recommended Posts

I'm puzzled because I don't know whether I want to get my armor first or the helmet. I'm looking at getting an Altmann helmet or the Chef's Creations and the Studio Creations armor, but I'm not sure which to get. Below is a picture of my 1997 Don Post helmet as I thought getting the armor first would be better

Were you thinking about getting the armor and using the DP until you get a new bucket? I only ask because they can be made troopable, but it usually requires major modification.

Try to upload your picture to photobucket and then copy the link here.

I'm not old enough to join quite yet so it would just be a placeholder

Can't tell 100%, but from that angle it looks like it's in great shape. Nice bucket!

Thank you! It's been completely refurbished. 2 and a half weeks ago, it looked like it was crushed in a trash compactor.

Since I'm not quite old enough to join and have a placeholder helmet, would you recommend to go ahead and get the armor?

Imperial Citizen, you are free to do as you choose.

I will say if you have the means and the time, go for it. You'll just have that much more time to get everything perfect once it's time. We're still here to help!

And after we get a peek at a few more pictures of that bucket, you might be approvable with that. Is the big block logo thing removed from the back?

Those DP's look damn good with the mod folks to do them. It's there a tutorial around here John or is it on another site?

It was on someone's blog. There's probably a link to it here somewhere. I have a .pdf of it though.

No sir. I don't want to end up damaging it or ruining it. I think I might keep it for display purposes after I get everything done. I'm worried that it would melt under the extreme Oklahoma heat during a troop. Do you know where to get replacement decals?

Trooperbay.

Does DVH do full decal sets or just the fish hook?

I did recently buy a replacement visor from TrooperBay but it arrived not so well, but I know they're an excellent company. How good are the decals?

Haven't bought from them personally but I believe they are quality.

Also a possibility would be SC. He might sellv his helmet decals a la carte.

Alright, thank you! I'll ask him if he can add in some decals and the gray helmet fasteners when I order my armor

Would plastidip be safe to use on the DP helmet to harden it up? Or fiberglassed?

Here's the link to that tutorial fur anyone following:

It's by HeathrowTrooper from the UK Garrison. It's specifically for a Rubie's TB, but they're essentially the same.

That is a really cool tutorial. I've always wanted to try one of these mods but couldn't find the helmet to do it on.

For some dastardly reason they're always expensive on eBay. I saw one years ago at Spencer's of all places but I bought a TK, Fett, and Vader. It looked so wrong I was sad. If I only knew...

Only the Vader survives. I was in a band and used to put them on my amps when we played out. The TK got broken and the Fett got stolen.
