Is Altmann's back into making the helmets? I thought they were a limited run years ago? I always remember those were one of THE go-to helmets.

 

I had an eFX one on order Day One and ended up getting my deposit refunded in 2016 because, let's face it, I don't think it's coming out.

Is this the helmet requiring fitting/liner? I've been reading so much it's all starting to run together.

 

Also, has anyone tried using the US military pad system (Velcro pads) for the scout helmets? I use it in a mando helmet and love it.

You'll find a wide range of padding in use. It really comes down to your preference and what you are most comfortable in. I have a hard hat liner in mine but I'm going to be switching to the military helmet pads you mentioned after trying on a Mando helmet at a troop this past weekend.

Let me know how that goes, Peter. I tried the MICH pads in my Altman at first, but couldn't figure out a good place to put them that still let me hear.

Wait, how did you get an eFx scout helmet?

 

I have an Altmann helmet. Fantastic build, appearance, and quality. Well worth the appprox. 3 month wait...but if you have the eFx helmet...you definitely know about waiting.
