Hip Boxes question

Hi, working on my belt now... I have a SC kit and I'm wondering for the hip boxes if I should trim the "return edge" on the top of the boxes or just left it and sanded the edge a little ?

Make the holes in the little rectangle recess's.

Just make the holes big enough for the 1.5" strapping to go through. That's it. You don't have to cut the whole recessed area out.
