Suede for my Red Kap

I'm ready to get the suede on the suit but before I start carving up fabric like Thanksgiving turkey, is there a pattern or measurements? If not, how did y'all measure, cut, sew and etc? Thank you in advance. Any photos or links would be very much appreciated. - Jay

There is a pattern floating around called the Lancer pattern or something like that, but it's not very accurate. Though acceptable.

 

No one has made a pattern that looks much like the screen used costumes, so just try to make it look like the Scout in the Costumes book and you will be fine:
