Boot Brand/Glue Questions

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm going to be redoing my scout boots before Celebration Orlando, and had a couple of questions. First off, what is a good brand for the boots? The first ones I got from Walmart, and they're hell on my feet. By the third day I'm typically hating life.

Second, what type of glue do you use? Now, specifically, I'm from Florida. My last boots I had to reglue several times, and that was using E6000. The dogbone would come off, or it'd start getting loose in the 'strap' on the toe, just very problematic.

Thanks!

Ace

Sup Ace. My boots have been from Target. You're gonna need to paint the soles if you wwnna go lancer, but the boots are generally comfie. You might want to add insoles that make thrm easier going on your feet. Also stay away from any kind of steel toe boot. I used E6000. Remember, this is Florida so the heat and lots of trooping can cause problems eventually. Make sure you take your boots inside so that they're not always in the heat. I don't keep my boots in my bin due to that. Also, when you're gluing, use a popsicle stick to spread the glue all over and evenly.

Thanks, Chex. I'll look into Target's boots and give the E6000 another go. I'll just be more liberal with it this time. My goal for the end of this year (I hope, anyway, cause I'm on my last 6 classes of college so who knows....) is to be Lancer.

I went with the Texas steer boots from Kmart and I have to say that I was doubtful but they've been great on my feet. They're about $19. The only thing I had to do was pull out the top two rows of loops at the ankle to keep them loose to put on.

I'm curious what/how you painted your soles Check, could you elaborate?

I dipped my brush in the paint & brushed it on. No special tecnique, plain ole brushing on. Used about 4-5 coats. If you can't find the right color, you will have to mix 2 colors to get the shade you desire.

Damnit Chunk! I was hoping there was an actual color, lol, guess I'll have to mix, can't find Anything around here that's my size with an acceptable tan sole, frustrating to say the least
