3D printed biker scout

I'm a bigger guy 6'6" tall... working on less wide. Finding helmets and armor to fit is a daunting task. If an accurate 3D file can be found would it be acceptable to 3D print the armor/helmet in ABS?

Also would anyone know of such a file if allowable?

There's a fella who's currently working on a great looking set of armor for bigger troopers. Shoot Spike a pm. He knows about it ;)

As far as 3D printed armor being approvable, as long as it looks and fits like it should and hits the marks set forth in the CRL, the medium shouldn't matter. It would be akin to disallowing fiberglass armor, or HIPS or ABS. Or Rotocast versus vac formed...

It's just got to look and fit right. I don't know that anyone has an approved costume that's fully 3D printed as of yet, but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

I've certainly not found any current 3D file that comes up to scratch... (I've looked... a lot)

I've recently had this discussion with someone new to my Garrison, and having searched extensively, none of the current available files are what I would consider accurate enough for general clearance.

That's not to say that if you did find a suitable file that was good enough in terms of screen accuracy it wouldn't be clearable....

But the end product would need to be judged.

Fortunately with 3D files, it's simple enough to show us what the end result 'may' look like (depending on print etc...), so that judgement can be made quite easily before you go wasting rolls and rolls of filament.

Thank y'all !

I'm open to checking out kits from anyone. I just know it was really hard to find my Mandalorian Bucket.

I know a guy on thingiverse is making great strides on his WIP.

There's too many things wrong with that set for it to pass.

I know he is working on it. Maybe once completed it will be useable. Worse case I may take a stab at the armor. I'm the type of person I'm not going to do this half ... hearted. If I'm going to do it, I will do it right.

I have no doubt that someday soon someone will have a great 3d printed Scout armor kit. But that day hasn't come yet so I would hate to see anyone throw their money away when there are so many other options out there

The other issue is durability. Even if you print it with ABS, it's not really the same strength as a sheet of vac-formed ABS. Even though there isn't a ton of armour, it's located at bendy points and gets stressed and eventually cracked.

If you can find an approvable design, that'd be sweet!

When I saw the thread title I was wondering whether this was a thread about getting 3D models printed of members in armour - your own customised action figure

I saw them doing this for re-enactors at Waterloo in 2015 and thought it would be a cool idea at Celebration or another large gathering
