Kits for Smaller People

Recommended Posts

So, I'm in research mode on armor/helmet kits. The general concensus I've seen is SC is the way to go.

My issue: I'm small. Quite... 153cm/51kg. My worry is the armor will swamp me.

I've looked at Walt's kid kit as an option too, but unsure what mods are required for approval. I can fit in the kid TK with adjustments done for my hips.

Or, if I get a regular sized kit, how much room would I have to trim/adjust without looking like an Ewok wearing a Biker Scout kit.

Has anyone else built a kit to fit down? Most I see are builds for 5'3 and up.

Thanks!

One of the cool things about the Scout is the "modular" aspect of the costume. It can fit many different body types with little modification, as so much of it can be compensated for in the placement of the armor pieces.

With SC, you may have to trim a bit off the shoulder bells, biceps, and forearms as well as the shoulder and underarm areas of the chest/back - though the layered flightsuit/vest/bund do add some girth in this area. The catch with trimming (with the forearms and biceps in particular) if you trim too much you run into detail areas pretty quickly that can't really be cut away. Like, aside from any flash I don't think there's much if anything you can trim on the SC knees.

I can't think off the top of my head if any smaller stature adults have gotten the WTF Kid's kit approved. I don't think the helmet would fly, but the rest may be an option. I'm positive there's some discussion on using that kit floating around here somewhere.

Welcome to the Pathfinders! I happen to be building a WTF scout for my son and I can tell you that although it's nice I don't think it will fly for you Nichole. The helmet wouldn't make the cut at our level and the chest piece would require a significant mod to fit your body type. The problem there is the cut out for the neck area. It's just not wide enough nor is the chest deep enough for an adult and I just don't think it would be comfortable for you. As Stasz mentioned you could piece together your set using say the bicept, forearm, belt, and knees from the WTF set with a chest/back/tank from SC and a helmet from one of the manufactures listed in the armory. The nice thing about the SC is that it is totally customizable to fit a lot of body types. There are many scout here that are smaller than I at 5'8" that are wearing that kit and they like it and look good in it. Hope this helps you and best of luck with your build. Keep asking questions!

To give you a comparison here's my son, Shepherd, with the chest piece. Shepherd is 8 and is around 4' tall.

I am 5'6 and have KS. Like Stasz said, this is an easily customizable costume. I have seen several men and women around your size who look great in this costume where another armor type might not work as well. It just takes a bit of work.

Thank you all for your help! I've been leaning more towards SC with the overall reviews I've seen across the boards. Will keep researching though!

Hey Duckie,

I'm 169cm and the SC fit me fine with just some trimming. I have an Alt bucket so I can't comment on the SC helmet.

Maybe you can find a Scout in your garrison who could let you try it on; it'll give you an idea.
