Costuming advice

Oook so as I wait to get to 5 posts to view to classifieds section I figured Id ask for a bit of advice on armors. Being located in Canada I found Kropserkel and was looking at their selections and it all looks really good, also cuts out customs fees/ etc for me. It seems like alot of smaller troopers prefer the SC kits though. I stand about 5'9 and around 170?lbs. Would a KS kit work or should I go studio creations? I dont really possess the space/ tools to do alot of custom work at home without choking myself with paint or model glue fumes so Id like to get a kit as close to finished status as possible.

Next question is on helmet. As above it seems like alot of guys say KS helmets are great (and they look really nice) but still require some mods to get to full repro status. Also it looks like a common complaint is they are on the large side. My hat size is 7 1/2. Ill probably be aiming to get an altmanns from the classifieds since they seem to be regarded as the best but Im new to the scout game so any tips on what else to look for would be great. One easy mod I would like to do to the helmet eventually would be the addition of a mic/ speaker to the nose. How do various helmets measure up for available space inside?

Thanks -Eliot

SC would be a better kit for you, and just about anyone unless they are well over 6 feet tall. KS has very....large proportions.

But their lids are good and I prefer them to SC's. There should be plenty of room in there for a mic although I don't know about getting a speaker in their too. Most of us keep the speaker in a pouch

I read a bit about the nose pieces on the KS helmets needing to be upgraded to get to lancer status. Does theirs come glued on if its completed at the factory? After I posted my original I started finding some complaints about KS quality control but most seemed a few years old. Have they made improvements since? Would you say theres a big difference between the SC and KS helms or is it just a personal preference thing?

There is a difference between all the helmets and the more you work with them the more you see the differences. To my eye, the KS helmet looks more accurate proportion-wise, even if it needs more work with the little bits to make it more screen accurate. The SC looks small and therefore looks better on folks with smaller builds.
