My Red Kap coveralls came in today and I remember seeing a visual "how to" for dealing with the mods. (taking off pockets, adding velcro and the extra piece for the neck.) I removed the back pockets and made the neck piece but I'm not sure how to sew it on. I plan on removing the front pockets as they are extra fabric. My other question is, should I sew the side pockets shut? I am VERY new at this and I am trying to research this but along side research, I figured I'd ask the experts. Thanks everyone. Jay

Don't sew the side pockets shut! Once you have everything on you can't see them and that's where I keep my wallet and keys when I'm on a troop!

I moved your post to the Soft Armor section. There are a lot of threads here that can help you. This one, for instance:

Here's a picture of how I did collar flap closure. I basically folded the removed back pocket in half, sewed 3 edges shut but left one of the short ends open and slid it down over the upturned collar, and stitched them together.

And yes, like 007 said, you can leave your pockets open as they'll appear closed when the belt and bund are all cinched up.

Haha! This is my go-to collar question pic. I just noticed it's in the link Mickey posted :P

You will want to sew the open slash pockets. Coveralls are meant to be worn over your regular clothes & this give access you your inner pockets. The regular pocket can be left open. Once the belt is on it will be secured.

I live in the U.K. but my wife is American and we are visiting my in-laws in 2 days time in Boston.

Just ordered it to their address and saved a fortune on shipping and non-UK seller problems!

Thanks for this! It's saved me loads!
