BARC Shin Armor

Recommended Posts

Just an idea, since CT.net has made the shins for the GMs, I figure we could probably use the Biker Scout (TB) boots concept in making the BARC shin guard leggings.

BarcBoots.jpg

1. Heat some vinyl cloth with a heat gun.

2. Form the vinyl to the shin guard and cut down to size and apply velcro closure on calf side (back).

3. Glue the vinyl to the shin guard.

4. Cut holes for the straps and attached all the way around to the back.

5. Attach velcro pieces on the inside and match it on the camo pants or coveralls to hold it securely in place (holster concept on the TB boots).

6. Paint with base color and the camo effect.

*Oh, I forgot, use craft foam to keep the vinyl from wrinkling.

Hey Gene,

I must be thick or something, but I'm not understanding your concept. Why do you need to heat the vinyl cloth? And what does the craft foam have to do with wrinkling? Have you started on this yet.... WIP pics?

Thanks,

DaVe

Two quick questions... Need some feed back soon!

1) How wide are the shin straps? 1", 1 ¼" or 1 ½"... It looks about 1 ½", but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

2) What do the buckles look like? I have yet to see any detailed pictures of the way the straps are closed. Is it just velcro'd closed? How are the Galactic Marine's boot straps setup?

Thanks... Pictures are always helpful.

I'd say 1".

The strapping itself is a bit difficult as the references (screenshots vs promorenders) seem to contradict.

In the high resolution render of the poster it seems there is a metal loop securing velcroed strapping

(loop style is squareish as with koop/hook systems we know from pants) while the screenshots suggest

strapping held or tightened by a buckle system (tri-slide or ladder lock).

I'm a bit too busy to post the pictures - maybe later.
