Tokkey Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Hi all So on Saturday I was able to buy a set of Scout armor from a friend and garrison member. After I got the pieces home I was looking over them and noticed the chest seems to be a bad pull. I'll link some photos below. I'm concerned that I will need to buy a replacement. Anyone have suggestions? http://i.imgur.com/yzMuvMu.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zCUf7qs.jpg
TINMAN Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 It looks like a rough pull but with some trimming and sanding you should be able to get those up to specs, 1
Tokkey Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 I was concerned with how shallow the detail on the right hand side is (left side in the photo) and how the recess was more oval. Is it really fixable?
Retrofire Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I was concerned with how shallow the detail on the right hand side is (left side in the photo) and how the recess was more oval. Is it really fixable? I would post these pics to the armourer forum and get their read. I know that Chef is experienced with pulling armor and can probably help. If that's the only questionable piece then you might be able to replace it. That pull does look pretty bad and it looks like the center v-wedge has some issues towards the bottom as well. Also, check with your garrison GML as they are the ones that will ultimately be approving it. Chin up my friend there is always a solution:) 1

Retrofire Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Found it. Its on the swinging ewok cantina under getting started. Try there.
Tokkey Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 That's a KS chest. Yeah. Do you think it can be salvaged or should I replace it?
kayelbe Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 You could try to salvage it (no big deal if it doesn't work--you are prepared to replace, anyway). Get a heat gun and a block of wood trimmed to the ideal shape. Heat it up and press the wood form in where you want to reshape it. Worth a shot. 1
Stroker Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Yeah. Do you think it can be salvaged or should I replace it? You can try. Just use caution with a heat gun. Small amount of heat applied at a time. Don't try it one or two passes.
stasz Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 If you're planning on weathering, I think you can hide that center chest wonkiness. A good paint job or nice square decal that fits in the slot would disguise the edges of the recess. Just looks like a really soft pull, and as mentioned, needs some trimming. 1
Retrofire Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 See! I told you the armourers would come out They smell this kind of stuff. Thanks Stasz and Stroker!
Tokkey Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 Thanks everyone for your help! I'm going to hold on to this chest for now but I'm going to replace it with an SC chest instead.
Dart Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Thanks everyone for your help! I'm going to hold on to this chest for now but I'm going to replace it with an SC chest instead. If you're replacing the chest, you'll likely have to replace the back as well. Some armour you can mix and match, but I'm not sure a KS back will match up with as SC chest.
