Padding your Helmet?

Recommended Posts

So I just got my helmet and it's a bit big on me. My plan is to pad the inside both to help it better fit my head and to make wearing it more comfortable. I've seen the insides of several helmets and have noticed people tend to pad the inside in different ways.

My question is how did you pad the inside of your helmet and was it easy to do?

I put a 3M helmet liner in my helmet. The mounts on the liner do not match the visor bolt locations on the Scout Helmet. I had to rivet the liner to the helmet just ahead the visor pivot. Once the visor is attached, you can't see the liner rivets. I'm very pleased with my set-up.

I just hot glued some blocks of foam where I needed it. It can take some trial and error to get a good fit.

I am intending to fit the Speedglas headband as well. I did find these photos on a build someone posted on the RPF of a lone wolf helmet. Seems you need to cut part of the fixing strap and rivet it just behind the visor hinge point. Hope they help.

Will give John (LW) a nudge as I know he fits them in his helmets. :)
