Greedo10360
For Lancer, pouches need to be attached to the cummerbund, just FYI! Thanks Mickey! Is that usually done by sewing them on or some other way? That answers that question! Lol

Aliaz
You can do sewing or velcro, as long as it looks like this: Can you still have velcro at the top of the pouch that attaches to the chest armor or does it have to be attached only to the bund? BikerScout007
Can you still have velcro at the top of the pouch that attaches to the chest armor or does it have to be attached only to the bund? We are talking Lancer only first off.... for Basic you can still attach the pouches to the chest armor and not to the bund. For Lancer you have to display each piece of your costume, so we'll see straight off if the pouches are attached to the bund or not If you want to put velcro on the front to keep them attached to the chest armor, which will also help keep your bund up, that should be fine. We're trying to achieve a look here.
Shada
My main attachment is Velcro to the bund, which is how I store it, but I also have Velcro on the top so the chest armour sticks to it as well and doesn't ride up when trooping. The quoted photo is screen accurate if you want to be a captured rebel soldier, but would just look sloppy if you actually trooped like that. Correct. I posted it just to show how the pouches attach to the bund. Here's another photo that is more troop worthy. Here you can also see that the pouches are attached to the bund and not the chest armor:
Retrofire
My main attachment is Velcro to the bund, which is how I store it, but I also have Velcro on the top so the chest armour sticks to it as well and doesn't ride up when trooping. The quoted photo is screen accurate if you want to be a captured rebel soldier, but would just look sloppy if you actually trooped like that. I totally agree and I did the same. I saw in a couple of troop pics that my bund was drooping below my chest armor and I hated that so I added Velcro to the inside of my chest piece to hold the bund firm and right at my belt line. Now I can drop to a knee and meet the kiddos at their level and not look like I just tussled with an Ewok war party😀 We're Pathfinders so we always have to look our best! BikerScout007
How come no one ever velcros the bund to the undersuit? hahaha
Greedo10360
Got some additional, exciting, progress done today and the list of what to finish is down to 2 items! I sewed my pouches to my bund and attached velcro to the back. Being a bit barrel chested, this was essential. I also sewed a line of Velcro to the flak jacket. This flak jacket is from Max's Sci Fi and it is really nice. I love it. I may need to shorten the sleeves, but we'll see once I put everything on. I finished the 1 3/8" elastic for my biceps. I also did a small strip of Velcro on the front of my flight suit. This will keep my cod up. Note, the flight suit is also from Max's and I love it! Once I finish my other one, I'll have a warmer back up for colder outdoor troops. I added some elastic stirrups to the bottom of my pant legs to keep the legs from bunching. I added the elastic around the shoulder bells. And lastly, I redid the cotton webbing on the sides of my armor. The ones I had would work, but these are a little nicer. So, that's it for now. The last two things are to paint one part of my tank greeblies white and add the two rivets to my belt and I am ready for basic submittal. I'll get that done and post up some pics for feedback. Greedo10360
I couldn't wait until tomorrow, so I added the rivets to my belt. I then painted my greeblies and all that was left to do was try it on...
Greedo10360
And here we go! Initial attempt to put it all on. Please let me know what you all think and if I'm ready for basic submission. Any feedback is appreciated and also let me know if you need better photos as these are a bit dark and were taken by a child.
Bobik96
i think the pouches are too high on the bund. Your gonna have to pull the bund up to meet the side straps. It doesn't look like the pouches will allow that. I love the armor. I think the size of that back pack is the closet to screen accurate that's out there. What are the dimensions of those pouches? It looks like whoever made them nailed it. Before you sew on the riding patch, do a test fitting with the bund on to see how it looks under the cod.
Bobik96
Thanks for the input. Good stuff! Got some work done on the knees today and believe they are lancer ready. I initially used a washer that was a little too large and popped right off, so I used the some of my last strip of TK abs to build new washers so I could add the 1/2 inch top elastic. Painted the outside white: One more piece now finished! Quick question though, as I don't have a ton of experience with rivets. In putting two of the four rivets in, the metal ball that pulls in popped out. The rivet's metal was bent and they are working for now, but I assume these are weaker than if the rivet worked properly. Anybody have any input on this? Leave them until they fail or drill them out and try again? Any idea what caused this? Here is a pic of what I'm talking about: Thank you! It's possible that you need a longer rivet since you added a plastic washer. I noticed that you painted the knee rivets. The Lancer standards changed for 2017 and the knee rivets are silver now. Keep up the good work.

The attachment flap on the pouches is longer than the ones you have

I see what you mean about the pouches being too high. I'll have to get creative to add a longer tab on them to get them to drop about an inch. When compared to the reference photo that Mickey uses, I can see what you are talking about. The pouches themselves were made by Chrisx909x and are just about 6.5 x 6". Also, thanks for your feedback on the knee rivets. There's so much erroneous information out there depending on what CRL I'm looking at that it's been a bit frustrating to get everything right. I can easily take the paint off and I looked at the 2017 CRL and you are spot on. At least that's an easy fix! Thanks again!
Greedo10360
To address the feedback I've received, I have lowered the pouches by one inch, adjusted some armor fit locations, and then took some better photos to make things easier on the GML. Here's round two! I think I will need to do some Velcro to the underside of the hard armor and then to the flight suit to help keep it all in place. Now to scrape off that pesky white from my knee rivets!
Greedo10360
I received my basic approval from my GML today! So excited to be a biker scout. Thank you to everybody that helped me along in this process. I'll be getting ready for my lancer submission soon and I think all I need to add is the clips to my detonator and adjust some fit issues, but I think it should be nearly ready. Of course, the approval committee will tell me if I'm wrong! Lol So glad to have basic approval. Again, thank you to all the brother and sisters on here that helped along the way.
