ChDoyle
So, I've got the pieces now I just need to put it all together. As it turns out there is a 501 detachment here in Luxembourg so I have to do a good job! It's mostly pretty clear what you have to do to get 501 approval. For the moment my only trouble is finding a decent balaclava that is not just a tube but rather tightens up around the neck. Amazon sellers photos are very deceiving. I am not 'impressed' with using decals for the ear intake holes nor the nose breathers in spite of how film build correct they may be. If there is a thread for how people replaced these decals with paint (rear of helmet) and the ear holes with some kind of more 'realistic' construction I am keen to hear that. But at the same time it still has to get 501 approval. Thanks..... Chris

In the film they cut the ear holes and ran black gaffer's tape (very common on movie sets) inside the helmet to make the interior look black. Or you can paint the helmet but I think tape is much easier!
