Hip Armor (Captain and Grunt)

The Hip Armor Wraps around each leg, and connects to the back with a painted, flexible material like Rubber or Leather. There doesn't seem to be able visible connection point in the front. Just connects under the belt or ab plate. The small oiler pouch in the back seems to be connected to the soft material that attaches the hip armor to the belt/ab.

Agreed. I'm curious if we'll actually see that in the movie consistently though. With the toy marketing, and with the vast amount of reference we have so far, all we've seen is the one Behind the Scenes pic of the hip armor, squad leader. That seems more like a costuming error. But hopefully we'll see the same in the movie at least once.

Has anyone successfully recreated this piece? I'm printing all my armor but will have to form this piece on its own. I'd like to see what others have done.

Hey guys, just to throw some controversy in here....... I have seen a couple pictures (online and Rogue One visual dictionary) where the hip plates appear to be made out of leather.

Glyn Dillon confirmed that the hip armourer was made from Plastezote, the same material used at the sides of the front chest and back armour.

I have a question since we're discussing the Foam used on the Hips. would this be the same Foam used on the chest as well? the Plastezote Foam?

I bought a 100 x 100 cm sheet (39 x 39 inch) and I think I can get 3 pairs of hip plates and side strips out of it. Make cardboard templates first and use them to cut to foam.

plastazote on amazon is 40" x 40"...so that would work. it's listed as 1/4". is that the correct thickness?

and is this the same thickness on the sides of the chest and back?
