Canterbury Tail
So I believe I'm finished. Everything is done and adjusted. All is made and things fit and seem to look right thanks to everyone's feedback. Problem is I can't submit my 501st application because my gloves have been in the mail for over 3 weeks and I have no idea when my helmet will turn up (been waiting since June.) So what now? Can I do anything with the 501st without the full uniform? Can I help out at events etc? Or should I just move onto something else while I wait for gloves and helmet? Thoughts? StoutScout
I feel your pain brother! I've been ready to go since August, but alas still no helmet (ordered 7/7). The waiting is the hardest part...
kayelbe
Sounds like you haven't gotten involved with your Garrison, yet. Get in touch with them, usually a forum or such. You can find out where they will be trooping and invite yourself along as a wrangler. Some units actually encourage that before or as part of new membership. stasz
I second Kayelbe. Wrangling (in the GLG we call it NCS, Non-Costumed Support) is a great opportunity to get involved and meet your soon to be garrison mates and get a look behind the scenes at the madness you're about to join Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Canterbury Tail
Oh, I was under the impression I couldn't get involved at all until I officially joined, which means yes I've never met with anyone from my local garrison. Didn't know you could do anything prior as the Canadian garrison only allows active 501st members to join the forums so I've had no contact. Hmmm, I'll reach out to Dart, see if he can assist me. stasz
I've heard some garrisons operate that way which is odd to me. We have 3 forums that are accessible to the public (getting started, Frequently asked questions, and costume resources), then the rest are for Garrison members only. People who want to NCS are granted access to the event boards to sign up for stuff. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Nexous
In most cases Garrisons should be open to newcomers joining in and shadowing / wrangling while they get their first costume approved. I know some guys who haven't completed a costume yet, but have hung around the 501st for the past year (everyone has their own pace, totally respect that!) I'll join in and suggest reaching out and asking what you can do to get involved and let them know of your progress and that you're simply waiting on a few parts... they should be able to sympathize as that's not an uncommon story
