What should I start with first?

I recently started my first Scout with the helmet. Half the reason I wanted to do the scout was that awesome helmet, so after I got a kit and finished it I was able to look at the helmet and think "Yeah, that's why I'm doing this".

Was like motivation.

I kicked my build off with the boots. Having had no prior experience doing anything like this, it was a great way to ease into it. The tutorial in the boot forum is great, and it was fairly easy and a big confidence boost to start tackling the harder (and more expensive) parts.

There's no "right way", but doing the soft parts first is a nice option especially if you have to save up some loot for the armor/helmet."

I started with boots, got the flight suit then ordered the armour (sans helmet.) I've jumped around all over the place and it's been nice because I can work on what I want when I want. For instance just today I did one of my riding patches on the flight suit, took the leg in a bit and glued some webbing into the hard belt for the drop boxes.

I'm actually taking the helmet as the last part, that's what will complete it for me. It's on its way from Australia and I'm getting very close to finishing the other bits now.

But as mentioned, there's no right way, just work on what you want to work on.

The tricky part is that some parts require other parts to get measurements right. For example, the boots have to come up to a couple inches below the knee armor. You can't make the boots without the knees (yeah, you can estimate pretty close, but still).

You need the shoulders to figure out the length of the vest sleeves. Etc.

Personally, the first thing I ordered was the gloves. Flightsuit came next. While waiting for armor to arrive I modified the flight suit.

Next, I bought my base boots and did the toes. The shafts waited until I received my armor. The cummerbund came after the chest and back (ideally the height of the 'bund comes up to hide behind the chest/back strap).

My helmet was last, for a variety of reasons: I have a big noggin, so I was careful which one I went with. Ordered an Altman's from Australia, which took a while to arrive.

Read build threads and get a feel of what you have ahead of you. Like our XO says, better to ask dumb questions than make expensive mistakes!

I started with getting the armor first. Then flight suit and vest. Then the cummerbund. Then boots and gloves.

So basically I started with the parts that didn't need much for measurements.(armor) I figured that when you start on soft parts its best to start with your flight suit first and layer up each part when ya come to it measurement reasons and proper fitting and armor placement.

Now I'm 90% done with mine and at the hardest part witch is finding the right helmet maker to complete my bikerscout suit.

I have decided to do my armor first because the measurements of the soft parts are dependent upon the armor. Of course, I don't think it would hurt to buy gloves or the flight suit before the armor. As for starting on the armor, it really is great to have your helmet done that way it gives you something to admire throughout the build.

I started with the coveralls because it served as the base of the whole costume. The relatively simple modifications you have to do for it also makes it a good place to begin. Then I would suggest putting together the chest/back plates and the belt. Once you see where these bits of armor rest on your body, you can figure out the measurements for the cummerbund (which, in my opinion, was the most annoying part of the costume to deal with).

Then I'd go ahead and put together the rest of the armor bits!

Id recommend doing what Ive done with the TK and Boba and that's getting the hard parts and work on that while you order the other stuff, that way you can build the armor while you wait for the boots, flightsuit, weapons etc. makes waiting for that stuff easier and youre really getting twice as much done.

I don't think there is a right or wrong on that one... it depends on the cash available and what you want to buy. Armor (specially helmet) tends to be more pricey. If finds are low ATM you can sort out the overalls and move on to the solid parts as funds become available. Up to you really... :-)

I started off with the easy stuff. I got my blaster, and gloves first, then the helmet. I bought my armor around the same time I ordered all of my soft goods. I wanted everything to come at the same time so I could build it relatively quickly.
