Erik R Posted September 20, 2016 Share Posted September 20, 2016 So I have my visor and faceplate connected and all is well, I am just not sure what exactly to use to attach it to the helmet. I have what seem to be cast bolts with the flat face (what appears to be screen accurate) and the finger tight nuts, but I'm not totally comfortable keeping the faceplate on with a two rods of plastic. What I've been doing is having two stainless steel machine screws and nuts in there to keep it on. I plan on cutting the disc off the resin screws unless I find a viable alternative. However, with the steel screws, I read somewhere not to tighten them with a tool, only hand tight. I did this, but after opening and closing the face only a few times the nuts are already loose. Should I use a ny-lock nut? Loc-tite? Am I coming at this all wrong? I wish I could provide pics right now! I've looked around for the solution, maybe I didn't look hard enough. kayelbe Posted September 20, 2016 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Use elevator bolts and have the best of both worlds (they are metal). I imagine it will take some careful measuring/fitting to use the plastic disk and gluing it to a bolt. I ran into the same problem with opening and closing, but eventually I just figured I look like a dork walking around with the faceplate up and so now if I do wanna open it, I just hold it with my hand. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Should be able to find them at any hardware.
