tidalforce
I had these boots made a while back (about 8 months) and haven't had time to work on my build, so they sat in the closet the whole time. When I got them out today they had this pink stain along the edges and on the threads. Any idea as to what this is and how to fix it? Clorox pen? Is this something I should bring up with the vendor or is this common? Thanks JC
gmrhodes13
Looks like the marker they have used has bled into the material. I would contact the vendor first before attempting a fix but if you get no help you could try mineral turpentine or some polish.
Shada
Alternatively, try weathering the boots. You won't see the pink under some Endor mud and speeder bike exhaust Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stasz
I'm wondering if it's a reaction with adhesive? Just looking at where the stains are - on the dogbone stitches and the upright fold over... an adhesive to hold things down while they were stitched? Does the stain up top line up with the folded over edge on the inside? If they "beefed up" the thread with something, beeswax? Maybe that reacted? Or the thread itself? I'm totally guessing and offering nothing in the way of rectifying it. Sorry I've never seen that before. That line on the upright is almost perfectly straight... Weird. stasz
No, Rhodes is right. Marker from making the lines to cut out the pieces...
Chef
Yup, as above... Just weather them with some dirt. Rub it in over the stitching and you won't notice it. Or claim it's Ewok blood.
Chunk
When I made my wifes boots I used a blue ball point pen to trace the shapes out. Some of the ink was still visable. So I made some mud & rubbed it all over her boots. Problem solved.
