Pink Stain on Boots

Recommended Posts

I had these boots made a while back (about 8 months) and haven't had time to work on my build, so they sat in the closet the whole time. When I got them out today they had this pink stain along the edges and on the threads. Any idea as to what this is and how to fix it? Clorox pen? Is this something I should bring up with the vendor or is this common?

Thanks

JC

Looks like the marker they have used has bled into the material. I would contact the vendor first before attempting a fix but if you get no help you could try mineral turpentine or some polish.

I'm wondering if it's a reaction with adhesive? Just looking at where the stains are - on the dogbone stitches and the upright fold over... an adhesive to hold things down while they were stitched?

Does the stain up top line up with the folded over edge on the inside? If they "beefed up" the thread with something, beeswax? Maybe that reacted? Or the thread itself?

I'm totally guessing and offering nothing in the way of rectifying it. Sorry ;)

I've never seen that before. That line on the upright is almost perfectly straight... Weird.
