Mcallister Boots

Looking at some boots I found the only one matching all needs might be the McAllister combat boots. A little work on the boots using a hobby knife could do the trick with the quite big bulge at the sides. What do you think?

Its close, but I was think more along the Jango Fett boot.... The Kenneth Cole ´Mount Kilimanjaro´ Boot. But they are no longer made. But then again, this is whee we may just have to find something semi close.

What about possibly something like this?

post-5-1145164013_thumb.jpg

These are called "Magnum Stealth II 8" Tactical Boot"

Would these work at all? Just an idea.

Those aren't bad at all. Army what do you think?

That is why I chose the McAllister in the first place.

As all boots using the sole as the Kenneth Cole models (Pit Crew) used in the movie are out of production and dark we have a bad stance anyways.

Slowly I get fed up with all these boot problems - Sierra Sneakers, Kenneth Cole Pti Crew.....

It is possible to make moulds, it is possible to get polyurethane, it is possible to use pigments with polyurethane....

I think it is time to take an old pair of boots and make a mould of these and then model replica soles of the on screen boots based on the soles of your boots. You need to take an existing sole to have a working inner profile. Otherwise it could be that you cannot walk in the replicas.

Quite utopic proposal, but I think when I passed my finals I am going to try it. It might fail but I think it has to be tried.

That would only work if we make a major inquiery unless we want to have it for a reasonable price. And these days our customs here really rip us off for stuff coming from US. :(

I'd say "nah" for a couple of reasons. First off, the sole is too embellished with designs and curves. Like torso_boy said, above, you'd want something with blocky, chunky tread, with little to no arch. Secondly, you really don't need a tall boot like that if you're going to be covering it up with stiff vinyl. A boot that stops at the ankle is sufficient.

OK I'll keep looking.

I found a boot maker in Canada that makes custom boots if I send him some pictures of what I am looking for. (I just pulled some really good pictures of the boots from the dvd. I also seen that the clones who kill Ki-Adi-Mundi, they wear the same boots only white.) So he can look them over and give me a price on making them the right color and such. I will also tell him they should be no higher then a pair of work boots just over the ankle and have laces or be slip on. As soon as I email him the pictures and get the info back from him I will post it here.

I hope it is not a violation to someone if I post some pictures I got from the "dented helmet - but I lost track of the thread.

So can remove them if the owner has something against it.

There have been several types of boots with a similar sole design. Closest I have found atm. are - (ebay search string -NAOT Black Leather 'Rafael' CASUAL BOOTS) -, just that they are black :(.

Here is the boot/sole we are looking for. (Jango Fett -> Kenneth Cole Pitt Crew)

It looks to me like what might work well is some kind of winter boot. I would say the sole should be greyish in color.

Something maybe like this..

pic one

Pic two Also look at the next couple (22 and 23)

its a bit confusing though.. I mean the film captures make the boots look grayish, whereas the promo shot looks more brown/tanish....

PS yes those look great but what about the color?

I think of the latest proposals the first Caterpillar is closest as it has a straight sole pattern and seems to be easiest to recolour looking at the materials and base colour.

Well as it is the original Jango fett boot. And the Clone designers took that boot pattern over to the BARC. A rare find these days.....that is how the story goes with screen used stuff.

The probelm with those is the sole color. you can recolor the uppers pretty easy but any coloring you do of the sole is going to wear off. Now who will look at the bottom of your feet.... not many I would wonder how well even flexible paint will be on the sides of the sole though. (as I have never tried that)

The other thing to consider here is since this is a digital creation we are going to have to take a few liberties. It would serve the population of want to be BARC troopers better if whatever we end up deciding on is relatively available so that consistency is easier to acheive. Hence why a readily available commercial boot as a starting point would be a good thing.

Well though the BARC is none of my "Must Have" costumes I go for maximum accuracy as always. If I find no boot 85% matching or can't produce it myself somehow (current plans) I won't do a BARC. That applies to all my costumes :)

Torso Boy recently posted a way to change colour of PU soles not only temporary if I understood correctly. So I'd still investigate in that direction.

I wouldn't make a certain boot mandatory anyways as fashion and availability always changes.

I agree striving to get as accurate as possible is the goal. then individuals came make their own decisions on how accurate they can be based on their own intentions... the 'ultimate' accuracy suit should be strived for.

With that in mind I started over looking at the boots... Here is what I see:

BARC_boot.jpg

I see the boot only needing to be combat boot height, just high enough to be inside the shin protector.

I envision the shin and upper foot protectors being like shin guards.

this works like this Scroll down to see exactly what I am talking about.

These attach usually with straps under the boot, but obviously on the Barc trooper it is attached with snaps/rivets/etc on the boot itself (attachment point)

As to the base boot itelf. I would say it should be Offwhite/extremely light tan. (the screen captures make them look off white gray). IMO I would say the best boot would be a combat boot style or work boot style with the correct colors. As the boot looks very plain where it does show.

I blame it on sloppy CGI concepts but the shin armor on all screens apears to be one solid tube - there is no noticable seam indicating it is made of two halves or one piece with one side open. So this is where we need to improvise.

Imo the shape is a 1:1 Jango boot just couloured in said tan/white colour. I'd say it is a light warm grey - I don't know if the colour definition classic white (often referred to natural white as well) is used in english too.

I have no time atm but when I am about to start with my barc (may be end of next year) I want to try to custom cast the sole. You can get PU used for soles and even cold cast it into moulds (depending on PU type).

I want to base the moulds using an old pair of boots of mine and/or a derivate of the Jango boots (a guy already gave me an OK to use his boots) - then reshape a bit with modeling material.

I probably have to get in touch with a cobbler for issues regarding the anatomical requirements of a sole and the attachment of the main body itself. I really want to try it - if it works it will also work for sierra remakes :). Probably costing plenty of time and money though.
