So I took a photo of one pair of my gloves I found suitable and photoshoped what alterations I have to make to make them look as a barc glove:

Original: (I took the right one as example -> grey rubber attachment up side)

And here my gloves photoshoped:

This will be my base gloves (Hein Gericke), pretty much the equivalent of a certain JC model I think. The zipper will be covered by the wrist strapping and the knuckle pads by the olive leather pads.

The extra gauntlet has to be attached on the original gauntlet. I used the same technique for my AT-ST glove so that'll work.

I guess the grey thing on the gauntlet has to be rubber casted and sewed on. Better would be integrated but I guess that's a bit too much.

The wrist strap should be some flexible plastic - I'm still unsure about the buckle there and how to mimic that technique. I know it's possible but I can't think of a ready to use system in that compressed shape.

Madphisto,

That is an awesome breakdown and mock-up of the BARC glove. I was getting ready to order a different set of gloves this weekend, but I might wait. Do you know of a supplier for the gloves that you have shown in your post?

I was going to order these deerskin gauntlets...

I am curious... How do you intend to get that puffy-cuff look with your gloves? Are you planning to add padding to the inside of the forearms?

WOW those are great, Ive been looking all for gloves to do. I know Mike siad he would do the rubber part for us. Now I have to choose which to use.

Nice work Mad looks great.

Just compare to the renderings.... I think these "commando" like gloves are too thin and don't reflect the material as shown in the rendering.

Regarding the pads - there are two options though I think only one would really match the rendering.

1. using hard shell paddings such as Mike's example in the other thread.

2. adding leather paddings. Look at the rendering - the material of main glove and padding are the same.

Going this way is probably the more difficult one but I never went the easy way ;).

Maybe Ladyghst can say something about how to realise such leather padding.

I changed the padding tone a bit on the glove: I wish changing and creating props would be so easy in real life as in photoshop hehe.

Hey Mad they have those deerskin gloves with liners in then for a few more bucks, they look a little more full like they should be. I think we can still use them as a base.

Ross,

I think those lined-deerskin gloves will work well. I know I posted them originally, but I ended up ordering a completely different set of leather gauntlets.

I went with these from Moto DirectUSA. I couldn't pass on the price.

1226 Leather Motorcycle Riding Glove - ~$14.00

They run alittle tight so I've had to exchange my first set for a larger size (2XL). I should have them by next week. This glove already has a leather wrist strap. I figure I can cover it up with a gray nylon strap for screen accuracy. I am just going to glue some scrap brown leather to the knuckles for the pads on the hand. Also for the forearm cuff, I've purchased an old black leather jacket from a thrift store ($4). I'm going to cut a section of the sleaves off and hook it to the glove with snaps. I figure it should end just about 2" to 4" from my elbow. I'll post WIP pics.

I got my gloves last week...

Here are the forearm pieces. I picked up an old black leather jacket at a thrift store... $4. They are not trimmed to size yet. The plan is to trim them to my forearm size, lightly pad them with foam, do a cut out for the rubber piece and glue the rubber piece in place. I'm thinking about using snaps on the underside to attach the forearms to the gloves. A little dark brown and green paint applied with a sponge or blotted with a paper towel.

I got me some'BARC'gloves'a'coming... I still have yet to find something for the gray wrist strap.
