Attaching the riding patches

I now have some suede (real suede) which I can turn into riding patches and a mud flap.

However I've never sewn like this before and I'm not sure my little sewing machine will cope. So I was wondering: is glueing the patches on an option?

There's nothing against it from an approval standpoint as far as I know, but I highly doubt it would hold up after a few troops, honestly. I initially used a product called Ultra Bond on mine (essentially makes it an iron on) for the same reason, but was advised against using solely that.

 

So I ended up sewing my patches on by hand, and the Ultra Bond definitely helped keep everything in place during that process.

 

I know there's mention of certain needles that work well if your machine has the "horsepower", but doing it by hand wasn't terrible...

You can use a regular home sewing machine. Buy a #16 HD pack of needles & just sew very slowly. Since its yiur 1st time you may break 2-3 needs. Also do you know if your suede thickness is 3 or thinner? Anything thicker & it will be tough.

I was initially asking as much from an approval perspective as whether it'll work.

But you got me thinking, so I'll cut off a small scrap and have a try at sewing it with the machine.
