Shada Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Here's my Lancer application, which I think is 95% of the way there. The only thing I don't think will qualify is the blaster - I've got a 3D printed one here, but have a Darth Vorhees one on order, so I hoped I could get all of the actual costume details checked now so I can make any last adjustments, and then go for a final submission once I get the new blaster. Helmet is Altmann, armour is SC, gloves are WW, flight suit is ex-Army surplus shop, bund and boots are DIY. Overall look: Flight suit suede patches: Other soft armour: Hard armour Bucket: Bund and cod: Boots: Blaster (temp version): 2
BikerScout007 Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Thank you for your application. We will review and get back to you! 1
BikerScout007 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Hey Brian, This is a really great application! Just a few minor things: 1) I like the zipties a lot, but your shoulder bells are sitting a little far from the shoulder bridges and they aren't even. You may want to use a shorter ziptie to get them closer like this: The zipties should connect directly to the shoulder bridge, if possible. 2) Your vest seems to be bunching up on the right shoulder 3) Your bicep and forearm armor need to be turned forward slightly 4) This isn't an app killer, but your bund closure seems a little off-center.... is it maybe just a bit twisted? 5) Finally the blaster. Is it 3-D printed? It looks a bit rough. You might want to paint some XTC-3D to clean it up. Nice work!
Shada Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 Thanks Mickey. I'm pleased the list is so Short! Zip tie fixes should be easy enough and I can adjust the fitting of the rest. 3D blaster is a temp until I get my DVH so I'll probably just leave it and then do a final submission when the blaster arrives. And I'm pleased to see the zipties make their debut in a Lancer app. They aren't a requirement but that extra bit of accuracy is always appreciated. We'll keep an eye out for your new pics
Shada Posted July 23, 2016 Author Posted July 23, 2016 Zip tie modifications complete! Shorter, more even and connected directly to the white bridge fabric rather than the black velcro that was holding the chest/back together: 1
BikerScout007 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Looks good! Would you mind suiting up so we can see it all together? And make sure that vest isnt bunching up in the shoulders? Get that arm armor turned a bit more forward too Thanks!
Shada Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Suited up this weekend - vest is less bunched, arm pieces are rotated further forward. I think the bund is closer to the centre too, although it's not 100% down the middle. Lou is now shipping my DVH blaster so I should be complete in a couple of weeks. 1
BikerScout007 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 That looks great! We are hung up on one thing... your codpiece seems to be a little crooked where it meets the strap. Is there anyway you can fix that to straighten it out? Thanks!
Shada Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 I think that's an artefact of putting in some plastic to avoid a camel toe, but it's shifted within the fabric so doesn't sit straight - it's the one thing that bugs me when I suit up. Will see what I can do but may need to remake it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Shada Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 ... and now I have a DHV blaster! (please ignore the magnet in the first photo - I forgot to remove it before taking the shot) I've also re-made my cod, to make the upper bit a little squarer to match the photo reference, sew the elastic to the cod and velcro it to the bund (which is the opposite of the first version) and remade the plastic insert so it doesn't look crooked - lower cod is the new one. Here's the back, to show that the stitches are hidden here, not visible from the front: Will suit up for an as-worn picture soon.
Shada Posted August 15, 2016 Author Posted August 15, 2016 and here it is on (without the belt in the way): 1
BikerScout007 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Hey buddy, all your changes are looking good! We would just like it if you could give us another shot with everything on and nicely evened out. Thanks for your patience!
BikerScout007 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Hey man.... You're gonna kill us but we gotta do it: We like the fixes that you made, but your final pics are a little on the sloppy side. We need a pic of you suited up with your armor turned forward (your shoulders seem to be tilting backward, bicep t-bits should be turned toward your front), dropboxes are hanging uneven, at least in the rear photo, and your pouches are not lined up with the outer ribs. Things are looking good, we just need one last neat pic. Get someone to help you make sure it's all lined up if you can!
Shada Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 I can't kill you ... the blaster is a fake! Will adjust and get new photos this weekend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Shada Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Last try Repositioned the connections for the zip-ties in the shoulder, so that the ties meet the bridge but the bells can come further forward. Checked and double-checked the drop boxes (last time the strap was twisted), and turned the t-bits: 2
