Kyuzo Larkin
So initially I made the mistake of following the Studio Creations printed instructions that came with the kit. It showed to make rivet holes in the belt, and to cut through the ABS plastic right above where the "V" is on the center portion of the belt. I do not know if SC has updated their physical instructions since the fall of 2015, but I was wondering how to patch up the holes, and the gaps where the canvas belt is supposed to loop through on the front. Is it possible? Or do I need to order another belt? (Thank the maker I know how to redo it, if I need to replace the belt.)
Nexous
ABS paste is an option or you can fill it and paint over... I'll let experts give their 2 cents
Kyuzo Larkin
Trouble with repainting is that I don't know of a color that would match the white ABS plastic. Does it need to match exact? (Sorry for the double post, my internet has been acting up.)
Retrofire
Can you throw up a pic of the belt center and the new holes? That will help with getting an understanding of the situation.
Stroker
The rivet holes can fixed with some caulking. How bad is the front? A picture would be great.
Kyuzo Larkin
I will post pictures tomorrow, I don't have the time tonight, but they'll be available in the morning
Kyuzo Larkin
The rivets are placed around the belt to connect the pieces together, as I found out, and the cuts in the belt are quite a bit above where they're supposed to be. I don't know why the directions said to do it this way, when their online directions said differently (As I checked later), but I am in the process of getting the finer details fixed so I can get registered with my garrison. This was from my first belt attempt back in 2015 before the premiere of episode 7. It works, but I have to keep the belt held together with white duct tape. Used the wrong rivets, and used rivets where there shouldn't have been any.
Stroker
I hate to say it but you might as well just order another belt. Use E6000 to bond the three pieces together. I mean you can fix it but it's not ever gonna really look right. Now I'm picky you may not be.
Kyuzo Larkin
It's not a big deal, but it's not something I'm enthusiastic about redoing, glad it won't take as long this time now that I know what I am doing. I also wanted to make this thread as a warning to those buying the Studio Creations kit to follow the online instructions for everything and not the printed and shipped directions. BlitzJaeger
Jeff at Studio Creations will be more than happy to work with you. I botched a belt of a recruit when I was helping him shape it, and asked for replacement parts which he immediately did. Didnt charge me near what I thought he would either... Hes a great guy, speak to him about the instructions he may change them for us, he told me recently he wants to make his kit as accurate as possible.
Nexous
Yeah, I botched my decals initially and asked to pay for some replacements and he sent out some next day at no charge.
