Dragon_a Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Hi I've been pointed to this undersuit by a fellow member so I assume that it does meet the minimum 501st spec. My question is whether it would meet Lancer standard as this is what I am hoping to aim for? http://www.ebay.com....K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I know that the majority of members on here use RedKap however this isn't easily available in Australia hence I'm exploring what other options there are. Cheers Tony
stasz Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 It looks pretty good! With the applicable mods I think it would work, but one concern is that it looks like the logos are embroidered vs. patches. The sleeve one would be covered, but the neck closure and back ones might be difficult to discreetly remove. The flared out shoulders (sorry, I don't know the term for this) would be covered by the vest. The cuffs would be inside the gloves, so no issue there. Looks like it would be relatively form fitting too. If you could figure a way to get that embroidered logo off, I think it would be a good suit.
BikerScout007 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 That's not as bad as some racing suits I've seen. Usually they have 1,000 pockets on them that need to be removed! And yes, as mentioned above, the logos have to come off if they are not covered.
Griffin-X Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Plus, would still require the riding patch, flap, and elastic. For that price, and with all the stitching and pocket mods, you'd be better off getting a Redkap coverall for $29 and doing the mods on it.
Mandalorean Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I have two of these upto lancer spec. The embroidered logos can be removed quite easily with a seam ripper, tweezers and a smidge of patience. Then just remove the thigh pockets and add the riding patch, flap and thigh elastic. Andy 1
MotorCityFool Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I like how it looks form fitting, but yeah I'm not sure how you'd remove that embroidery. I also heard going with a moto suit could get kinda hot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BikerScout007 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 The RedKap is pretty hot; that sweet, sweet polyester and cotton blend was just not made to breathe. From what I understand, our brethren down under have a harder time getting their hands on RedKap coveralls so this racing suit should do the trick, even if it's a little pricier.
Oblivian Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I'm down under. Redkap direct from Amazon from Mexico was about $50nz. Not bad at all Sent from my XT1092 using Tapatalk
Dragon_a Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for the feedback, looks like this might be a viable option then. Though after looking at the sizing chart I'm a little dubious lol. Another option I've seen is the Wampa Wear suit. It is a little pricey and since it's sold as a "Biker Scout Undersuit" I'd have thought they'd have the patches and elastic already on there. However, it doesn't need anything adjusted or "taken away" which reduces those costs and since I'll be getting gloves from there anyway.....

It's sort of a "universal" black flight suit. They say "biker scout" but it's actually missing the riding patch, mud flap and thigh elastic. The Redkap shipped or the mechanic suit you posted are still a better deal, honestly.
stasz Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 It refers to patches and flap for "highest standard" messing Lancer, but those mods are all required for basic clearance.
