stasz Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Texas Steer. They will serve you well. Nice for a base boot. Soles are fairly easy to cut up. And they're light. I would recommend a comfier insole if you have a parade or a long troop though. Keep us posted! 3

Just wanted to get a feel of what kind of work is involved when working the soles. of course today I noticed that there is in fact a small horizontal rib that runs along the front part of the boot. How important is it that the front rib is there? As for the back horizontal rib I have already planned for that one. My goal is to make the boot Lancer approval level. Do it once, do it right.

Get a good pair of gel inserts or similar and you won't go wrong with these boots. Good ewok stompers I think.

d50erock Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 I used the lace from the boot to make the horizontal line and held it in place with 2 tacks. I then used tape to make the outline on each side of the lace. Then pulled off the lace and traced the tape with a pencil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought the cuts on the front of the boot were supposed to go all the way down, no line like the back has across it. I hope it can be either way, because I did not leave a line. I will post pictures in my thread to show what I mean today.

d50erock Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks Peter. It was time consuming but I am happy with the outcome. Not perfect by any means but I am happy. I have to work on the other boot now, but that should be faster since I have the technique figured out.

Makes sense to me...better to have it in case than not. I have received a little feedback and think it will be good either way. They look great the way you did them. 1
