MotorCityFool
I figure i'll start with the jumpsuit being my first purchase as this will be the base. I also know i'm going to be extremely picky on how this piece fits as i want this piece very fitted and not loose or baggy. I wear slim fitting stuff anyway, so i want this to be no different. (build: 5'8 130lbs) I found this on Etsy today, has anyone ever ordered off this seller? It has great reviews. https://www.etsy.com...ef=sr_gallery_4 I just wanted everyone's thoughts on the subject. I like the idea of going this route because its custom made to my measurements. I've looked at the red kaps and they seem a bit baggy and I would have to pay upwards to 70 dollars for a tailor on top of the suit anyway. And for a good fit it's well worth the money IMO. Also this etsy one comes with mudflap and thigh patches so i wouldn't have to mess with making those. Thanks in advance! -MCF
Stroker
Yes he has some nice stuff however give this a good gander before you pull the trigger. Check the link it's CB. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=13107&pid=140055&st=160entry140055 Also you don't want it fitted like a pair of skinny jean nor do you want it real baggy. It's gonna be a meet in the middle fit. Check out the screen grabs in the gallery to get a idea of how we like them to fit for basic and Lancer.

Will do, i'll be shooting for Lancer status so that's why i want to picky now rather than later. I know the complaint there is a lot of suits aren't very fitted (too baggy) to be considered for Lancer. Just paranoid i guess And ugh, after reading that link you posted i'm not sure sure now. Probably less hassle to just make my own. Next search is for info regarding the suede patches measurements. Never a dull moment in reasearching scout uniforms lol
stasz
I'm a huge proponent of modding coveralls to spec. Even if you don't have sewing skills, a pair of coveralls and paying for alterations will be less expensive than than the pre made flight suits that you'll still have to mod anyway.

Yeah good call, in that case do you recommend.. Type: Speedway Motors Racing Suit Website: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Safety-Racin...-Suit,2466.html or Type: RedKap Coverall Website: http://www.automotiv.../coveralls.html or other? Thanks! Stroker
Red kap is what almost everybody goes with. Also it just the lets that need taking in. Super simple task. I'm not that good at sewing but taken the legs in are easy. Just a single stitch up the inside of both legs.
Stroker
I'm at work right now as far as the patches you need to fit em to your body size.
stasz
I used a RedKap, and it was pretty easy even for a novice like myself to make the necessary adjustments (removing/stitching closed pockets, adding collar flap, adding riding patches/mud flap/thigh bands). I also took in the legs, arms, waist, and rear to make it a bit more form fitting. I looked at the speedway suit, but at the time they were showing as discontinued. I know a few troopers have used it, and it doesn't look like requires a ton of work. All of the aforementioned, plus removing the patches. I don't think the white cuffs are an issue since they'll be inside yr gloves. I wear nomex for work and I don't think it would be any hotter than a regular coverall. Thanks for the advice probably just go with a Redcap since it's cheaper and leaves me more budget for a tailor if need be. TB-17317
I bought a pair of dickies coveralls and removed the extra parts and sewed the pockets. You'd also have to undo all the inner stitching to properly see the patches and flap. Also, adding stirrups on the bottom of pant legs is a great idea to help keep it from bunching. MotorCityFool
Thanks for the info. You know if the dickies jump is any thinner than the red kap? I hear the red cap is kinda thick, it might pay off for me trying to find something thinner. tk1234
I found a black racing suit from M&R Products on eBay. It already has a mandarin collar, no pockets and comes with elastic cuffs on the arms and legs. Nice! The only alterations I needed to do were to remove a small white patch on the right arm and take off the ephalets on the shoulders. After which I sewed the riding patches and thigh elastics on. I haven't used a sewing machine in over thirty years and I had no problems at all. I had to split the leg seam, but it was easy to resew it. The undersuit looks fantastic. I bought the large size and it fits me perfectly; not baggy and not tight. I paid $50.00 for the suit. Cost of the add-ons was $20.00 because I used real leather suede for the patches. I guess the point I'm trying to make is there are quite a few options for the undersuit. Although it may seem like a daunting task, the sewing part is one of the easiest parts of the whole thing. I did so well with the suit, that I made my own vest from a heavy cotton t-shirt I found at a thrift store. That turned out so well that I sewed a cummerbund and pouches from drawings I found on this site. My wife couldn't believe it. Finished everything over a weekend.
