Swift234 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 So I was going to order or pick up my balaclava, but thought i should get opinions from the experts first. Does anyone have any prefernces or opinions on which one is most comfortable / cooler / breathes easiest etc...? Thanks!
Stroker Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I use the cheap ones from eBay. I'm not giving 30+ bucks for UA. 1
stasz Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I got this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00S0YA5GM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1466015147&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Self+Pro&dpPl=1&dpID=41Zgb6f5a8L&ref=plSrch Way cheap, light, breathable. And I like that it can go over my mouth, up to my eyes, or just over my chin without getting bunchy and weird. Very versatile. 1
Griffin-X Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I use the Schampa version. http://www.jpcycles....product/131-229 1
BlitzJaeger Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Mine is an UnderArmor CoolMax, it is great! Never gets wet/sticky like some wicking products do, and is comfortable, not too tight or too loose. It also can be worn around the chin with open face, or just around the neck or around the nose and lower face as well so very versatile, and wasnt any more expensive than other comparable options and is a good brand too. 1
Whereswa11y Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 SUPER cheap ebay special :-) My expensive one didn't do too well in a recent wash :-(
gowinme Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I've had several styles but bought these recently and am very pleased - comfortable, versatile, and a steal at 2 for $15: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M3NEBMK/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chunk Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Its all a matter of preferance. I use a knock off Under Armor i got from Ebay for $18. 1
stasz Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Long story short: there are several viable options if you don't want to drop the coin on an under armor...
Swfangirl Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 You can also make them from simple material, it's not a hard pattern to sew
tk1234 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Like BlitzJaeger I bought the Under Armour balaclava. It costs a bit more on Amazon, but it's amazingly light and cool. 1
MotorCityFool Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Like BlitzJaeger I bought the Under Armour balaclava. It costs a bit more on Amazon, but it's amazingly light and cool. This the UA one you guys are referring to? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BikerScout007 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I use the cheap ones from eBay. I'm not giving 30+ bucks for UA. Hahahaha. I had a cheap one from the army surplus store for $7. It got the job done. But I put an UA on my Amazon wish list and got it for Xmas one year and boy.... it made a hell of a difference. Recommend it!
khazara Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I got the Scampa CoolSkin after it was recommended by someone here on the forums. I've been using it over a year now over 30 troops and it's working great. Highly recommended and price is mid range. Schampa CoolSkin Balaclava (Black, One Size) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012TWSSA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kqBHxbVZFKM0B 3
Forest Ranger Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I'm currently wearing a Mountain Made balaclava, but it is pretty thick, assumingly a dri-fit type, and definitely made for colder climates.
Retrofire Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 This the UA one you guys are referring to? Yeah, That's the one I'm using and it's great. You can pull the face down under your chin if you need more air or keep it Ninja style. It's worth it here in the desert. 1

Griffin-X Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I always recommend the Schampa products (like the coolskin Todd mentions above). They are the best option, IMHO. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/131-229 http://www.jpcycles.com/motorcycle-balaclavas/schampa
MotorCityFool Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for the info everyone. Collecting the easy stuff and making my boots this weekend while I wait for my helmet and armor to arrive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Schampa CoolSkin Balaclava (Black, One Size) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012TWSSA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kqBHxbVZFKM0B I like the look of this one. Did you have to remove that tag, or is it underneath your flight suit neck? Thanks!
khazara Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I like the look of this one. Did you have to remove that tag, or is it underneath your flight suit neck? Thanks! Tucks into the collar of the jumpsuit. No logo removal needed. 1
