Hello -

So I'm starting on my SC armor build but I notice that the armor is a different shade of white than my Altmann's helmet (thanks Spike). The armor is a cooler white whereas the helmet is more accurate in my opinion.

Anyone have opinions, experience, suggestions, on whether to paint the armor to match - and if so, what are some paint options? Thanks guys. :)

Your gonna have to use the same paint spike used. Still there's no guarantee your gonna get a perfect match. I'd leave it alone that's just me. To if you decide to paint go with a good quality paint and primer.

Hey David . I work in the automotive repair industry painting cars . I also paint a lot of motorcycles as well . The trouble is with painting ABS or any other Plastic is the mold release agents involved that can cause poor adhesion for paint . First of all the Plastic needs to be cleaned with soap and water . Second you need a proper plastic prep kit that helps to not only sand the plastic but also draws the mold release agents to the surface. Once this is done wash the panel again with soap and water to wash away these agents from the surface. Before paint a adhesion promoter must be applied and a proper sealer then ready to paint 😀. Personally if you look at the pictures of other scouts in the forum wearing the same build as yours I would just leave it í ½í¸.

It'll all sort of become "one color" at some point with wear-n-tear and natural sun damage, unless it really bothers ya, I'd suggest as others have to just let it be. But if you do go the paint route, it sounds like 'Torm' above has you covered :D sanding and cleaning for prep
