I have an HFx pistol and want to bore out a small area to add a magnet. Does anyone know what type of adhesive would work best with the rubber/foam used to make the pistol? I need a good bond to keep the magnet in place but don't want to use something that will dissolve or damage the pistol.

Thanks in advance!

What is the type of foam? You may want to look into rc plane foam safe glues. I get my rc stuff from hobbyking typically

I've only seen hfx in person a couple times, but isn't it pretty dense, like non-porous? I'd think E6000 would work.

I have this handy chart which helps from time to time:

Yeah, the outside is non porous, but not sure what it would look like once I made a hole for the magnet. I don't know what kind of material Hyperfirm is....

I would watch the E6000 with the magnet. I know I put together a TK a few years back and done the strapping method for EIB and got a little E6000 on one of the snap plates and as the glue cured it melted the plastic. So I went to over to the TK attachment and found others were having the same problem.

It's like dense sponge if that makes any sense. I would avoid using E6000 or adhesives that use heavy chemicals like acatone. Why not give white glue such as Gorilla glue a shot first. The material should hold a bond well and it won't damage the materiel.

I shot a message to HFX on Facebook to see what they recommend. I'll post up soon as I hear back from them.

I've used e6k on foam board with success. CA glue will most likely react with the foam.

Cool, thanks for the responses!

(I didnt even think about sending a FB message o_O)

I'm surprised it's CA glue! But that's from the cats that make it...

Search for my tutorial. I showed how to sand off the "pressure button" drill a hole for magnets and replace the button with a transistor from Radio Sack (which should tell you how long ago I made the tutorial).
