Canterbury Tail
Okay heres a question for all of you that made your own boots. I got the Texas Steer boots from K Mart, have cut the soles and popped out the speed lace holders. I'm intending to replace the laces with flatter laces. Now to the question. I'm trying to figure out whether to put laces through the holes left by the speed lace holders. Does anyone do this or do people only lace them up to the regular lace holes? Trying to decide if I need to get some grommets and reinforce the holes for lacing. Not sure how easy it will be to manipulate the top laces once the vinyl goes on. Retrofire
Ben I responded to your question on your boot thread. Let me know if I can help any further
Bubonos
I removed the laces when I made mine. Helps sip on and off easier. As someone who wears work boots everyday, I figured it would be easier and I was right.
Omarq2012
How do you maintain the tightness of the actual boot without the laces??
Bubonos
I find the vinyl keeps the boots tight for the most part.
NegativeEleven
I put those slide pull spring holders on my laces, and my boots have the hook things on the top couple of holes for laces. I find the best way is loosening them enough to get foot in there, then going around the top couple of hooks, then pushing the slide down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I didn't go a size down as much as made sure they fit perfectly. Too small and it maybe hard to squeeze your foot in. Dart
Another good thing is to make sure that when you're doing your boots, you don't stretch the vinyl too tightly over the toe as that can make putting on the boot more difficult. For my boots, I've actually cut away some of the upper heel to make it easier to slide my foot in and out. I think the next boots I make I'll likely cut even more away as it's just not needed.
