AShadyPanda Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 What are best Biker Scout helmets? Are there any that would be ready for Lancer approval right away? Right now I'm kinda stuck between SC, KS, and Altmann's. I'm getting SC armor and I can order it and get the Helmet kit with it so that's a big plus for me.
BikerScout007 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 All of this is my opinion: Of those three, my vote is for Altmann. Best helmet period? The RS Props. 2

I firmly believe that there isn't a "Lancer" approved or even "501st" approved anything. Please do not be drawn in by anything that claims this because 9 times out of 10 it isn't. It's a matter of how the armor looks and is made to fit YOU. We use the CRL(s) to find out what is needed then it's research, research, research, and yes more research to find out what works and what doesn't. That's why BS.N and your local garrison are such an invaluable resource. This place is the place for all things pathfinder and these folks are here to help dorks like me, who initially didn't know snot, how to create a 501st approved set of armor. The short answer is that while all of those are great lids they will need to be gone over to ensure they meet the requirements. The Lancer requirements are found here:http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=12081 If the lid meets those requirements then you are good to go. 4
Forest Ranger Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Is the Altmann lacer approved as is or would I need to mod it? How much are they? I have an Altmann, and I love it, however, I did have to mod it. You can do lancer spec for every bit of your costume, and it still not meet requirements because hands down, it will all count on how it fits, besides the mods. The Altmann needs virtually all decals replaced, and bolt covers. It wouldn't be worth it to build a costume if you didn't actually do a bit of building to get there. First, get yourself 501st approved, that's the most important. 8
theisaac Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I have a CB, KS, and an Altmann. The Altmann is my favorite hands down. I'm selling the CB and the KS because the Altmann looks and feels the best on my frame. Look up Spike and he can hook you up. If you have the funds and the patience - You can try to get one of the RS props helmets (they took a year to ship after paying for them). 2
Darth Voorhees Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Dont forget LW as well. The closest to the RS. my opinion..best to not the best of avaiable helmets.. RS Chef LW Altmanns KS CB [fiberglass] MLC3 [fiberrglass] SC New Image [fiberglass] 2
caramac Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I guess everyone has totally forgotten about Chef's helmets? In my opinion with the latest modifications they are as good as your going to get. Here are some pics of one of chefs kits that Marco put together. 2
Guest assimilate Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Everyone seems to forget that our own chief armourer does very very good Scout armour and helmets Shame on you all lol 2
BikerScout007 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I was only asked about 3 specific lids; I didn't forget our Chef 1
stasz Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Retrofire up there stealing my lines Agreed with all the above. 1
AShadyPanda Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Welp it seems I'm stuck between three new lids haha. Chef's looks fantastic! I've seen both the KS, and Altmann as well. Guess I should have mentioned that I'm 6'0 and a 135 pound skinny guy. Looks like more research between these three! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
AShadyPanda Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 After doing some more research, Altmann's is the one I want. Thanks everyone! 2
Retrofire Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Good choice! My white armor lid is an Altmann's but my Shadow will be a Chef. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
Darth Voorhees Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 DOH! i did forget Chef's..which is silly cuz im on his list for armor LOL. Chef's is great as well. Id put it between RS and LW (RS, Chef, LW, etc etc.) 2
AShadyPanda Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 Gah I don't know I went back and looked at Chef's and I like his a lot too. Geez picking the helmet kit is the hardest part it seems. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Guest assimilate Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Chefs is accurate kit wise too 2 halves face plate and 2 visor halves His newer kits are even more improved Wish I had one
jkno Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I own/used to own 3 Scout helmets: KS, LW, RS. The most accurate is RS closely followed by LW. KS is nice but not too accurate. Regarding size, the KS was the largest. Regarding sturdiness, the LW is the most solid of the three. Until the RS replacement arrives I'm still easily preferring the LW.

Retrofire Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 LW lids are extremely rare because they are no longer produced. If they ever do come up for sale they never last more than a few minutes on the Trade Forum. 1

Many seem to think its a notch above, but never say the reasoning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Here's a great write up on the LW. for a fan sculpt, it just Damn near nailed it. And the general consensus is that it's a robust, troop-worthy lid. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/fanmade_scout_trooper_helmets.htm 1

MotorCityFool Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I want one now after reading that lol. Seems unobtainable these days :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Griffin-X Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I want one now after reading that lol. Seems unobtainable these days :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Very hard to find since most folks hold onto them. The Altmanns helmet is pretty nice too, and that's what I recommend. Many happy customers and scouts! 2
