Screen accurate camo material intrest

Im starting a new thread about this to gauge intrest on this here is a explaination of what im doing:

HI everyone...I am in the process with working with a silk screener to have the exact camo pattern and colors printed on bulk material so i can make the BARC jumpsuit.I have studied the DVD stills extensivly and have determined thet the camo pattern does include the top as well as the pants. At first I thought the top was black with no camo but it def. is the same camo as the bottoms.

What I have done is taken a dvd still from the movie and sent it off to a silk screener they will digitize the image and blow up the camo pattern to 1:1 then print it on bulk fabric then i will start making a prototype suit.

This also depends on the cost though if he comes back and tells me its gonna cost thousands of dollars to do this then I probably wont do it.

If enough intrest is there then I might be willing to absorb the cost for having this done.Ill post updates as to what i find out in this thread.

I'm interestd but it is highly dependent on price, accuracy and when it will be available. I think before summer I won't be able to make any bigger transactions.

But interest is definately there!!!

Well Like the Fett,Tie,AT-AT suits I do,I do tons of research before making the suit...the prototype suit would be just that...once its done we can decide if things need to be changed before the final design is ready for production.

The material itself would undoubtedly be accurate because its taken directly from screen grabs off the movie...then it would be up to me to try and get the suit design accurate.

As far as price goes its to early to determine that but the suits would probably be roughly priced the same as my fett suits around 120-140.

But If this material thing works out I would be happy to sell the material at my cost to anyone who wants to make their own suit.

I dont want people to feel forced to buy a suit from me if they want to do it themselves or have someone they know do it.Im merely offering the service of doing the suits if people want me to.

Mike probably can tell how benficial it can be to work with the crowd here when it comes to refining products ;). So if you feel like making use of a few critical eyes - just do it :)

OT:

I didn't know you are making TIE suits - I cannot see anything but a background on your page?

Hey Jas,

I find myself turning to Phil for the "final say" on alot of the stuff I've worked on. He has a terricfic eye for scrutinzing CG images and giving honest constructive opinions as well.

BTY Mad how 'bout that "opinion" on the BARC's knees side detail ;)

Sky's soft goods are the best.

This is a dream come true to get the screen accuracy applied to a BARC pattern, though assuming maybe a slightly thicker material.

YES! I'm in.

Ok I got a quote tonight on this ...the initial cost would be a little higher for the screen set up and art work fees.Basically right now im looking at about 850.00 to get the 50 yards.

If the intrest is there I would probably do it. I realize until people see the material and the prototype suit you cant really say yes or no and thats understandable. He will be sending me some digital pics of the the pattern for final approval...but like I said the pattern is basically a blown up version on the on screen camo pattern and colors seen in the movie so it will no doubt be spot on as far as accuracy goes..then itll be up to me to try and re-create the suit accurately.

Ok I going to be sending the print guys the money in the next few days to get the screens made for the printing process.I also talked with him and the lighter color isnt a darker tan as i first thought its a taupe color which is kind of a weird cross between tan and green.the dark color is a dark military brown. So what Im doing now is getting the bulk material in a taupe and then they will print the dark brown camo pattern on the taupe material.should look pretty good.

Estimation of Cost per set for material only.

So basically $17 per yard and the stuff will probably take 5 for the undersuit and about 5 for the cummerbund and pouches at a cost of roughly $170 per set just for the material alone.

Isn't the undersuit a completely different material and camo pattern from the cummerbund / corset and pouches? To me, that undersuit pattern looks like it is mainly two shades of browns (medium brown and grayish brown). I also thought the cummerbund is a solid olive color with minor weathering. The pouches are a different beast all together. Can someone confirm or correct me?

Confirmed - only the base suit is composed out of the material SGB is trying to get fabricated.

As we have blind areas due to the cummerbund and armor you could save material just doing the arms and neck area for the upper part and use plain black or whatever base colour that suit of SGB will feature.

I'm not convinced of patchwork but well....

Also I'm a bit curious about the "blown up" aspect. It could easily be that its' just looking like a MARPAT then due to pixelating.

I guess the material price would be ok - for some materials I've payed similar prices py -> snowtrooper.

But the shipping and customs will make it a hell to import - so I'm getting a bit sceptical if that works for me.
